The Eurasian Economic Union may pilot affixing electronic identification marks to footwear
According to a report on the official website of the Eurasian Economic Commission on April 10, the Agreement on the Pasting of Electronic Identification Marks on Products within the Eurasian Economic Union came into effect on March 29, 2019. Liaoheva, deputy director of the Tariff and Non-tariff Regulation Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, said that Belarus proposed a joint pilot for footwear labeling, and Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia had previously expressed their intention to join. Countries will promulgate unified regulations on identification marks and establish a cross-border trade electronic traceability information exchange mechanism. This pilot will help determine whether it is necessary to implement mandatory labeling of footwear within the league as a next step.
