The first batch of spring silkworms in Huilong Town, Gaoping District, Nanchong City enters the “fifth instar stage”
It is now the time for spring silkworm breeding. After nearly a month of careful breeding, the first batch of spring silkworms in Huilong Town, Gaoping District have entered the fifth instar stage and are about to swarm in large numbers. The silkworms are in good condition and a bumper harvest is expected.
Recently, in the large and spacious silkworm room of the Sericulture Industry Base in Laochangya Village, Huilong Town, Yang Zewu, Chairman of Nanchong Dawei Agriculture Co., Ltd., was placing fresh mulberry leaves for spring silkworms, and workers were busy placing the picked mulberry leaves Unloading, pouring, and feeding, the scene was busy.
In the silkworm room, the silkworms that have entered the “fifth instar” are “crazy” eating mulberry leaves, rustling. “The mulberry leaves are growing well this year, and the silkworms are neater than in previous years. We raised 80 sheets of silkworm paper in the first quarter of this year, which can earn about 2 tons of fresh cocoons. The income in the first quarter is about 200,000 yuan, and we plan to raise them throughout the year. In the fourth season, the income is around 1 million yuan.” Faced with the upcoming harvest, Yang Zewu’s face showed joy.
It is reported that the first batch of spring silkworms in the base has entered the fifth instar stage and is expected to be ready for a good harvest in less than 10 days. “Our silkworm cocoons are large and uniform, with long silk heads, and the raw silk quality is high. When we first started raising silkworms this year, Several companies from Chongqing, Guizhou, and Guangxi are interested in ordering,” Yang Zewu said.
The sericulture industry not only brings considerable income to Yang Zewu, but also brings more employment ways to increase income for the local people. It is understood that the base employs more than 10 workers all year round to pick mulberry leaves and feed small silkworms, allowing many villagers to find employment at their doorsteps.
Liu Xiubi, a villager in Group 1 of Laochangya Village, is one of them. The job is simple, the construction period is fixed, and the income is stable. This is a very good choice for her. “I have been helping Boss Yang raise silkworms for many years. I collect leaves, feed silkworms, and disinfect them every day. For 80 yuan a day, I can earn money at my doorstep, and food and accommodation are included. Everyone works hard to feed the silkworms well, and achieve High yield and bumper harvest.” Liu Xiubi said happily.
In recent years, Huilong Town has given full play to its advantages in the sericulture industry, building 3,000 acres of high-quality sericulture base, supporting the breeding of cocoon silkworms and zombie silkworms, introducing leading agricultural enterprises, and relying on the sericulture, soybean and grain economy complex modern agricultural park and the integration of modern agricultural industries. The “two parks” development layout of the demonstration park promotes the transformation of traditional sericulture industry into modern sericulture industry.
