There are many types of
Flame-retardant fabrics, and the prices vary greatly. Take the two best-selling flame-retardant fabrics currently on the market – aramid flame-retardant fabrics and cotton flame-retardant fabrics. The price of aramid fabrics is more than five times more expensive than cotton flame-retardant fabrics. Why is there such a big gap?
First of all, there are differences in flame-retardant finishing methods in Flame-retardant fabrics. Flame-retardant finishing is divided into two types: (1) Using flame-retardant or high-temperature-resistant flame-retardant fibers – fiber flame-retardant . (2) Flame retardant finishing of flammable fiber fabrics – post-finishing flame retardant. Aramid flame retardant fabric is a kind of fiber flame retardant. It is a natural flame retardant fiber and does not require flame retardant finishing. The fabric feels soft, strong, has good flame retardant properties and is resistant to high temperatures, especially when exposed to 900-1500°C. At high temperatures, the cloth surface will quickly carbonize and thicken. Cotton flame-retardant fabrics are post-finished flame-retardant fabrics and are not as strong as aramid flame-retardant fabrics.
Secondly, in terms of fabric production, aramid flame-retardant fabrics are difficult to dye due to fiber characteristics, resulting in low yield and expensive raw materials. Cotton flame-retardant fabrics have a high yield, mature production technology, and low raw material prices. Therefore, the price of aramid flame-retardant fabrics is also very high in terms of production costs.
Lastly, in terms of use, aramid flame-retardant fabrics have high wear resistance and washability, and have a long wearing time. Aramid flame retardant fabrics and cotton flame retardant fabrics are widely used in firefighting suits, racing suits, military uniforms, aviation fields, petrochemical fields, and the power industry. Customers can choose flame retardant protective fabrics that suit them according to their needs.
