Xinjiang cotton full-process green prevention and control technology system integration demonstration project launched
On the 9th, the “Xinjiang Cotton Pest and Disease Succession Law and Integrated Demonstration of the Whole-process Green Prevention and Control Technology System” project, a national key research and development plan, ministry-provincial linkage project led by the Western Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was launched.
The project will systematically clarify the succession rules and disaster mechanisms of important cotton diseases and pests, innovate intelligent monitoring and early warning technology, develop green prevention and control technology products, integrate and build a full-process green prevention and control technology system for cotton diseases and pests, and demonstrate its application, in order to continue to promote Xinjiang cotton The green and highquality development of the industry provides important scientific and technological support.
Researcher Lu Yanhui, chief scientist of the project, said that in 2022, Xinjiang’s cotton planting area and output will account for 83.2% and 90.2% of the country’s total, respectively, playing a “ballast stone” in the healthy and sustainable development of my country’s cotton industry. “effect. Under the new situation of cotton’s full mechanization and green development, systematic research on the catastrophic mechanism of cotton diseases and insect pests in Xinjiang and full-course green prevention and control technology has become a major strategic need to ensure the safety of cotton planting and green production.
The main goal of the demonstration project is to clarify the occurrence patterns and catastrophic mechanisms of cotton diseases and pests in Xinjiang under the new situation, so that the prevention and control of diseases and pests is “reasonable” and “evidence-based”; to innovate and develop core monitoring technologies for cotton diseases and pests and sustainable prevention and control control technologies and products to make the occurrence of pests and diseases “knowable”, making prevention and control more accurate and sustainable; creating a full-process green prevention and control technology system with intelligent monitoring and precise prevention and control as the core, especially the green prevention and control model of cotton pests and diseases is fully integrated into the full-process mechanization, so that Pest and disease control will be “greener” and cotton production will be “easier”, thereby ensuring the safety and green production of cotton planting in Xinjiang and promoting the high-quality development of the cotton industry.
The project will be funded by the National Key Laboratory of Plant Pest and Disease Biology, the National Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology, the Key Laboratory of Integrated Crop Pest Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Cotton Engineering Technology Research Center and the National Agricultural Technology Integrated Innovation Center. As a supporting platform, a number of industry-university-research units inside and outside the region, including the Western Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, China Agricultural University, and the Plant Protection Institute of the Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, were gathered together to complete the project.
