Imported clothing increased year-on-year
In November 2017, Japan imported US$1.148 billion of knitted garments, a year-on-year increase of 10.16% and a month-on-month decrease of 5.68%, of which imports from China accounted for 66.03% and imports from Vietnam accounted for 14.17%.
In November 2017, Japan imported US$1.100 billion of woven clothing, a year-on-year increase of 13.91% and a month-on-month decrease of 8.89%, of which imports from China accounted for 61.02% and imports from Vietnam accounted for 12.70%.
August and September each year are the largest months for Japan’s clothing imports. However, in October and November 2017, clothing imports increased year-on-year. Among them, China and Vietnam are the largest importers of Japanese clothing. In 2017, China’s share decreased slightly year-on-year, while Vietnam’s share increased slightly.
