Bangladesh promotes export of jute products
According to the “Daily Star” report on April 2, in order to promote the export of jute products, the Ministry of Textile and Jute of Bangladesh recently completed a list of 232 types of jute products that can enjoy a 20% export cash subsidy, including shopping bags, curtains, Sofa covers, table mats, gardening materials, shoes, etc.
Previously, due to the lack of product list and product definition, jute product manufacturers faced problems when applying for cash subsidies. For this reason, the Ministry of Textiles and Jute set up a special committee in 2016 to study and formulate a product list. Industry insiders said that the move will help improve the international competitiveness of Bangladesh’s jute products due to the growing demand for jute, and called on the central bank to include jute products in environmentally friendly or green product refinancing schemes.
