“Qian Xiaoping Silk Fabric Design Training Class” launched
Recently, the “Qian XiaopingSilk Fabric Design Training Class” and Qian Xiaoping’s new achievement release event were launched at the Suzhou Silk Museum.
Zha Yingdong, deputy mayor of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government, Yang Fang, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee and director of the Municipal Civilization Office, Zhang Xiaoli, director of the Rural Tourism and Creative Products Guidance Division of the Resource Development Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, deputy director of the Suzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau Director Chen Ruijin jointly unveiled the “Qian Xiaoping Silk Fabric Design Training Class”.
This training course is sponsored by the Suzhou Silk Museum and Qian Xiaoping Ancient Silk Reproduction Research Institute, and co-organized by the School of Textile and Clothing Engineering of Suzhou University, “Silk” magazine, Suzhou Silk Engineering Society and Suzhou Silk Industry Association, aiming to further Give full play to Qian Xiaoping’s exemplary and leading role in the field of silk design, better carry out the training of fabric design talents, improve the level of fabric design, and promote the development of the silk industry.
Qian Xiaoping, who is 86 years old this year, has written books, practiced and explored, and achieved many new results. Shen Zhixian, director of the Qian Xiaoping Institute of Ancient Silk Reproduction, hereby introduces the new results. In terms of innovation, Qian Xiaoping learned from the best of others, integrating the essence of leno, Song brocade and ethnic minority brocade techniques to create a double-sided colorful jacquard leno fabric, which looks like the same flower and the same color or the same flower and different colors.
Qian Xiaoping is one of the chief editors of the National Publishing Fund project “The Essence of Ancient and Modern Chinese Sericulture and Silk Technology”. This book systematically organizes and classifies the important production factors in sericulture and silk production since ancient times, and deeply explores the essence of its craftsmanship. With pictures and texts, this book vividly and intuitively presents and reveals the connotation of Chinese sericulture and silk civilization, culture and science.
In addition, Qian Xiaoping was authorized by the European Art Alliance to create 7 paintings by the famous Italian painter Modigliani using Song brocade techniques. She devoted herself to exploration and adopted unique design techniques to make the original characters more three-dimensional with a complex texture of silk, light, shadow, structure and color, corresponding to the vital characters in Modigliani’s original works, and demonstrating the fusion of Eastern and Western art.
