On May 5, accompanied by Duan Shoujiang, Vice President of the China Industrial Textiles Industry Association, and Yang Yaolin, Head of the International Exchange Department, International Geosynthetics Sam Allen, President of the Society (IGS), and Han Jie, Financial Officer, and their delegation investigated the geosynthetic materials industry in Dezhou, Shandong. At the symposium, Wang Mingjie briefly introduced the development of geosynthetic materials and waterproof materials for construction in Texas. In 2022, there are 29 geosynthetic materials companies in Dezhou City, with an operating income of 2.108 billion yuan; there is 1 construction waterproofing materials company, with an operating income of 627 million yuan. The geosynthetic materials industry in Dezhou City is mainly concentrated in Lingcheng District, a famous city for geotechnical textile materials in China. The product varieties cover more than 90% of all categories of geosynthetic materials, with a production capacity of about 550,000 tons, and a national market share of about 35%. The geosynthetic materials industry in Lingcheng District has formed a linked production model from raw materials to finished products, promoting the healthy and stable development of the industry.

Sam Allen introduced the overview of IGS, related work, 2023-2024 operation plan, future vision, sustainable development of geosynthetic materials, etc. IGS currently has four technical committees: Barrier Systems, Soil Reinforcement, Hydraulic Performance and Stability. Since its establishment in 1983, IGS has been committed to the scientific research and application development of geotextiles, geomembranes and related products and technologies. Over the years, it has actively carried out professional training, technical exchanges, academic forums, etc., and has established academic exchange platforms such as professional journals and digital libraries. Currently, IGS is expanding from academic research to industrial application research, while actively strengthening industrial chain extension and international exchanges and cooperation to promote the sustainable development of the global geosynthetic materials industry.

Representatives from Dezhou geosynthetic materials manufacturing companies such as Hongxiang New Materials, Shandong Hengyang New Materials, Shandong Lingxiang New Materials, Shandong Jiantong Geomaterials, and Shandong Jing Innovation Materials respectively introduced the situation of their respective companies and discussed advanced equipment, innovation and innovation. New products, leading technology, product standards, testing and certification, international trade, etc. were fully communicated with Sam Allen and Han Jie, and at the same time, they made pertinent suggestions for the development of IGS in China suggestion.

After the symposium, Sam Allen and Han Jie visited Tiandingfeng’s Dezhou factory.
