Qingdao Jimo District enhances new competitive advantages for enterprises – the textile and garment industry adds vitality

Not long ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of “three-product” strategic demonstration cities for the consumer goods industry in 2022, and Qingdao was on the list. Among them, textiles and clothing, as a characteristic and advantageous industry, have become an important support for Qingdao’s consumer goods industry.

Qingdao is one of the birthplaces of China’s modern textile industry. More than 70% of Qingdao’s textile and apparel industry is concentrated in Jimo District. The district has more than 3,800 textile and garment enterprises, with an annual output value of 62.1 billion yuan and an annual output of about 800 million pieces of various types of clothing. It ranks first among the national children’s clothing and knitting industry clusters Four, were awarded the titles of “China’s Famous Knitting City” and “China’s Famous Children’s Clothing City” by the ChinaTextile IndustryFederation.

However, as the industrial echelon transfer accelerates, the competitiveness of the previous large-scale, low-cost development path has weakened, and the development of the textile and apparel industry is facing pressure. The textile and garment industry in Jimo District has the problem of insufficient development potential.

Jimo District has been exploring how to make this traditional advantageous industry “new”. Han Meiyan, deputy director of the Jimo District Industry and Information Technology Bureau, said: “We must face up to problems and face shortcomings, among which digital transformation is the main means of industrial improvement.”

From a traditional clothing processing enterprise that can only accept orders of more than 10,000 pieces to a flexible production enterprise that can customize one piece, Ruihua Group is a beneficiary of digital transformation.

Since its establishment 30 years ago, Qingdao Ruihua Group Co., Ltd. has accumulated not only the vast markets in Europe, America, Japan and Southeast Asia, but also the chronic diseases faced by most traditional textile and garment enterprises – small-scale and customized businesses are unbearable. Production costs cannot be reduced and production efficiency cannot be improved. Cheng Xianyu, chairman of the company, told reporters that Ruihua has made many attempts and equipment has been replaced from generation to generation, but the efficiency improvement has not been obvious.

The turning point occurred in 2020. Jimo District selected some representative enterprises and carried out one-to-one transformation on the top ten “double-cross” platforms selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This event focuses on the digital improvement of the entire enterprise process and creates a more leading demonstration project. Among them, the government provides a 40% subsidy for renovation funds. Textile and apparel companies participating in the transformation include Jifa, Ruihua, Xueda, and Tangni Melo.

Ruihua is cooperating with Kaos, which has many industrial Internet empowerment cases. Based on the real pain points of the clothing industry and the actual needs of Ruihua, Kaos relied on the comprehensive upgrade of intelligent automation equipment and information systems to tailor a flexible, fast-responsive, intelligent, and customized overall smart clothing manufacturing solution for Ruihua. plan.

In 6 months, Ruihua successfully upgraded from a traditional clothing factory to a smart transformation benchmark in the clothing industry. “After the transformation, Ruihua realized the flexible production of ‘small order quick response’ that can also be customized. The daily production capacity increased from less than 9,000 pieces to 12,000 pieces, and the product production cycle was reduced from the original 20 days to 7 days. Management efficiency has increased by 80%.” Cheng Xianyu told reporters that many leading domestic clothing brands have also turned to Ruihua, with the company’s order volume increasing by 30% and the added value of orders increasing by more than 150%. At the same time, through the platform built by Kaos, Ruihua Company is connected with fabric supply data and brand sales data, and can produce on demand, reducing inventory and logistics costs, saving brand owners 30% to 40% of costs.

Ruihua is an epitome of the digital transformation of Jimo clothing companies. Driven by the local government, more and more companies are joining the ranks of smart manufacturing. According to reports, Jimo District has established a cultivation database for technological transformation and industrial Internet transformation projects, and will cultivate projects included in the database on a rolling basis. In 2022, 28 technical transformation projects worth more than 5 million yuan will be put into the database, leveraging more than 2 billion yuan of investment in technical transformation, and securing more than 37 million yuan in various support funds such as industrial Internet transformation for more than 90 textile and garment companies.

In addition to the “new” manufacturing methods, Jimo textile and clothing companies also spare no effort in material innovation.

Recently, a batch of orders have been rushed into production in the production workshop of Qingdao Jifa Group Co., Ltd. Yang Fan, the company’s new fabric research and development technician and national technical expert, held a piece of fabric and told reporters: “This is a polylactic acid fiber material made from old corn, straw and other crops. This new fabric is skin-friendly, warm, and breathable. The production of this fabric It not only solves the problem of handling crops such as straw, but also biodegrades after use.”

In the textile industry, materials are fundamental and fabrics are the key. According to Yang Fan, Jifa Group develops more than 1,000 new fabrics every year and carries out nearly 100 innovative projects.

In the product exhibition hall of Qingdao Xueda Group, various types of clothing fabrics are dizzying: composite silk fabrics that can “breathe”, anti-static and antibacterial graphene fabrics, Phase-change “air conditioning fiber” fabric that adjusts body surface temperature according to ambient temperature.

Material innovation is showing a concentrated outbreak in the Jimo textile and apparel industry: Hengni Manufacturing cooperates with Qingdao University to develop seaweed fiber blended yarn, and takes the lead in formulating industry standards for seaweed fiber knitted clothing; Motes Home uses self-developed physical anti-mite , 3D multi-color and other fabrics, developed a variety of home textile products that are both functional and fashionable.

“Although the textile and garment industry is a traditional industry, it is also a sunrise industry, a fashion industry, and a creative industry. Through the changes of new technologies, new equipment, new materials, and new models , will continue to add vitality and power to the industry.” Han Meiyan said that Jimo District will focus on the positioning of “technology, fashion, and green” in the textile and clothing industry to promote high quality development. The main line focuses on brand building and industrial innovation, and uses digital transformation as the main means to promote the upgrading and development of traditional industries and create new competitive advantages for the textile and apparel industry.
