Forecast and prevention and control warning of silkworm disease in Guangxi in early April

The Guangxi Sericulture Technology Extension Station, in conjunction with relevant city and county meteorological, agricultural and rural departments, used the independently developed “Guangxi Silkworm Blood Type Pyrozoonosis Prediction and Forecasting Model” to issue silkworm disease prediction and warning information: early April 2023 , the occurrence level in western Guangxi (Napo), northwestern Guangxi (Yizhou), and northwestern Guangxi (Huanjiang) is moderate (Level II), with an incidence rate of 5.01%-10.00%. Sericulture farmers are requested to take precautions in the process of raising silkworms. Pay attention to the prevention and control of silkworm diseases.

1. Prevention and control measures

1. It is advisable to do a good job of disinfection before raising silkworms. It is advisable to use a disinfectant containing 1% effective chlorine to completely disinfect the silkworm room, silkworm gear and surrounding environment. After disinfection, it must be kept moist for half an hour to kill pathogens or reduce the risk of sericulture. Pathogen remains.

2. In early April, the temperature in various places has shown a warming trend, but there are more rainy weather around the Qingming Festival. Attention should also be paid to the nighttime insulation of silkworm houses and the control of temperature and humidity in silkworm rearing. It is advisable to maintain the temperature of the silkworm room above 20°C to ensure the basic temperature needs of silkworms for their eating activities.

3. It is advisable to use fresh lime powder to disinfect the silkworm body and seat before the silkworms are asleep during the period.

4. Before feeding silkworms every day, pay attention to the development of silkworms. If they are underdeveloped, they should be picked up in batches. If dead silkworms and weak silkworms are found, they should be promptly picked out and put into lime tanks for harmless treatment.

2. Things to note

The disinfection effect of naturally weathered lime powder is poor, so fresh lime needs to be prepared for disinfection. Preparation method of fresh lime: Slowly add hydrated lumps of quicklime to form powder, cool and set aside for use. The ratio of quicklime to water is approximately 1:0.8. The prepared fresh lime powder is sealed and set aside. It is recommended to use 50 jins of fresh lime for every 100 jins of silkworm cocoons produced.
