Early in the morning on March 22, at the entrance of the silkworm room of the Yicheng Ecological Planting and Breeding Family Farm in Chengguan Town, Xincheng County, there was an endless stream of people coming to pick up silkworm seeds. This is a farm specializing in the cultivation of third-instar silkworms. Ant silkworms started selling ant silkworms in mid-March this year, and the first batch of third-instar silkworms was officially sold on the 20th.
“The first batch we cultivated is 900. Customers from the surrounding areas come to pick it up themselves. For places that are far away, such as Xinwei and Matei, we will drive them. We have already sent two cars out today.” Lan, the person in charge of the farm, said Fengmei said that they have been engaged in the cultivation of third-instar silkworms for ten years. They sell third-instar silkworms every day for more than six months every year. This year, the first batch of third-instar silkworms will be available for about 10 days before the second batch arrives.
The “co-breeding model of small silkworms” is one of the unique experiences of sericulture in Xincheng County. Currently, there are 65 standardized production bases for co-breeding of small silkworms in the county, including 5 standardized production bases for fourth-instar silkworms. Since mid-March, the small silkworm co-breeding base in Xincheng County has been busy again, providing third- and fourth-instar silkworms to silkworm farmers.
The silkworm industry is a traditional pillar industry in Xincheng County, with an area of 251,500 acres of mulberry gardens in the county. The county aims to build a strong county in the sericulture industry, takes “increasing quantity, quality, and efficiency” as the core, and focuses on the construction of “high-quality raw material cocoons, bases, and parks” to give full play to its resource advantages and scale advantages to become stronger and stronger. The large sericulture industry helps rural revitalization.
