Waste textiles open up new space for renewable resource industry

On March 21, the “2023 Waste Textiles Recycling Technology Exchange Meeting” was held in Wuzhou, Guangxi. Relevant government departments, industry associations and enterprises participated in the meeting. We exchanged opinions and suggestions on the industrial bottlenecks and opportunities that exist in the waste textile industry to achieve its expected development goals, and released relevant industry white papers and group standards, committed to promoting the green highQualitydevelopment.

In 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued the “Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Recycling of Waste Textiles”, which clearly stated that by 2025, a waste textile recycling system will be initially established, and the output of recycled fiber from waste textiles will reach 2 million tons. . By 2030, a relatively complete waste textile recycling system will be established, the waste textile recycling rate will reach 30%, and the output of recycled fiber from waste textiles will reach 3 million tons.

Xu Tiecheng, president of the China Renewable Resources Recycling Association, said that this is a clear goal for the development of waste textile recycling at the national level. There are many blank areas in the waste textile industry, which is an important opportunity for enterprises in related industries.

Industry insiders participating in the meeting discussed the development of waste textile recycling industry, waste textile value-added utilization technology, building waste textile green sorting center, and enterprise participation in carbonemission standards under the background of “double carbon” /font>formulated and others shared their experiences and opinions.

At the meeting, the Waste Textile Branch of the China Renewable Resources Recycling Association released the “White Paper on the Development of China’s Waste Textile Recycling Industry in 2023” and “Carbon Emission Accounting and Reporting Requirements for Waste Textile Recycling Enterprises” and “RecyclingCotton yarnline product carbon footprint accounting method” two group standards.

Cai Haizhen, deputy secretary-general of the China Renewable Resources Recycling Association, said that the two standards aim to fill the gap in carbon emission accounting standards in the field of waste textile recycling in my country in the context of “dual carbon” and standardize the carbon emission accounting methods of waste textile recycling enterprises. and carbon footprint carbon accounting methods for recycled cotton yarn products, promote carbon emission accounting for waste textile recycling companies and carbon label certification for recycled cotton yarn products, and further leverage the supporting role of the renewable resource industry in the realization of my country’s “double carbon” goal.
