In recent years, Huayuan County has seized the historical opportunity of the national “Migration of Eastern Mulberry to the West” and Hunan Province’s implementation of ecological restoration projects in mining areas, and has listed the sericulture industry as an important industry in promoting farmers to get rid of poverty and increase income and to restore the ecological environment of mines. “One special and two auxiliary” characteristic industries, a series of industrial policies have been introduced to accelerate development. It also introduces sericulture enterprises to settle in the agricultural park, insists on providing free door-to-door training services on sericulture technology, guarantees the purchase of silkworm cocoons and mulberry leaves, promotes sericulture agricultural insurance, subsidies for silkworm cocoon production, subsidies for mulberry plantation and tube cultivation, and subsidies for co-breeding of small silkworms, etc. At present, the county’s mulberry orchard area reaches 34,000 acres, ranking first in the province in terms of mulberry orchard size. It has embarked on a new path for the breakthrough development of green industry with county characteristics.
