More than 400,000 acres of machine-picked cotton are mined in Maigaiti County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang

At present, 400,200 acres of machine-picked cotton in Maigaiti County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang has begun to harvest cotton on a large scale. Cotton harvesters shuttle back and forth in the fields, sketching a gratifying picture of a good harvest.

In the golden autumn of October, the farmland in Jierandun Village, Yangtak Township, Maigaiti County, is already covered in silver, and the cotton grown by the family of Jiang Duxiang, a major grower, is also blooming. Along with the roar of the cotton picker, white cotton is picked from the branches. Every half hour or so, the cotton picker “spits out” a large bundled cotton ball weighing about 1.4 to 1.7 tons. In just half a day, the picking, compressing, and packaging processes were completed.

“I planted more than 500 acres of cotton this year. Under the regular guidance of technicians, the cotton yield is very good, with an average yield of more than 400 kilograms per acres.” Jiang Duxiang said.

Just two years ago, large-scale mechanical operations could not be carried out on small farmland, let alone mechanical harvesting. It was difficult to free up the labor force, and the cost of cotton cultivation increased year by year. To this end, Maigaiti County has vigorously implemented land transfers and comprehensively promoted machine-picked cotton as an important strategy to promote large-scale cotton production, intensive management, and cost reduction.

Cotton picker driver Wang Huichao said: “Now the government is integrating land, and the plots are getting bigger and bigger. The better the cotton is planted, the better the yield. As the cotton planting area expands, the demand for cotton pickers The number of cotton picker drivers has also increased accordingly. Today, the number of cotton picker drivers in the company has grown from more than 100 to over 1,000.”

Technology is the primary productive force. With the help of mechanization, cotton planting and harvesting operations are becoming more and more efficient. The application of machinery has greatly reduced the labor intensity of cotton farmers, continuously improved the harvesting rate, and also greatly increased cotton output and cotton farmers’ income.

Abdusalamu Abdurehit, a cotton grower in Jerandun Village, Yangtak Township, Maigaiti County, said happily: “My family’s 100 acres of cotton were harvested in one night. I used to go with my parents. Picking cotton by hand is very tiring and causes pain in the waist. Now cotton is picked by machine, which is not only efficient but also of good quality. Next year we plan to expand the cotton planting area and take advantage of technology. express train and increase family income.”

“After the land was leveled, the plots became larger and larger, and everything from planting to picking was basically mechanized. Many people also invested in the secondary and tertiary industries, achieving stabilityEmployment and income will also increase.” said Yilamu Reheman, deputy secretary of the Party branch of Jierandun Village, Yangtak Township, Maigaiti County.

It is understood that this year, the machine-picked cotton planting area in Maigaiti County is 400,200 acres with an average measured yield of 350 kilograms. 29 cotton pickers are operating around the clock and the harvest is expected to be completed before October 20.
