High-quality cotton harvest in Changji Nonggao District exceeds 30%

On October 5, several cotton picking machines were in full swing in the cotton field of Jiang Daoyuan’s family in Laolonghe Demonstration Zone of Changji National Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone in Xinjiang (hereinafter referred to as “Changji Agricultural High-tech Zone”) harvest cotton. Relying on the advantages brought by integrated water and fertilizer technology and mechanized operations, Jiang Daoyuan has grown better and more cotton in the past two years. This year, he has contracted more than 1,000 acres of cotton fields.

Jiang Daoyuan said that in the past, more than a dozen people were employed to grow cotton on more than 100 acres of land, and it took nearly two months to harvest. Now using cotton picking machines, more than 1,000 acres of cotton can be harvested in two days. “Now sowing, fertilizing, spraying pesticides, and harvesting are all mechanized, which not only saves labor costs, but also increases cotton production.” Jiang Daoyuan said.

In order to ensure the smooth progress of the cotton harvest, the Changji Agricultural High District has cooperated with large-scale agricultural machinery cooperatives and major agricultural machinery companies in advance to conduct statistics on agricultural machinery and agricultural machinery operators, and conduct closed-loop management of personnel. At present, there are 37 machines (sets) entering the site, more than 60 cotton picker operators, and more than 300 ginner staff, which effectively ensures the smooth progress of cotton harvesting and processing.

It is understood that relying on platforms such as the Western Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the National Cotton Industry Alliance, Changji Agricultural High Zone adopts the “one factory, one product” model to unify varieties, unify harvesting, and unify sales. At the same time, Changji Agricultural High Zone also relies on cotton varieties such as Zhongmian 113 and Xinluzao 57, which have relatively high yields in the past two years, to build 100,000 acres of high-quality cotton base, of which the core base is 30,000 acres.

Lai Yun, deputy general manager of Xinjiang Alliance Youmian Technology and Technical Services Co., Ltd., said that the company actively guides growers, ginning plants and downstream textile mills to join the “Excellent Cotton Community” platform to integrate the planting end and supply side of the cotton industry chain. The end, processing end, product end, and financial end are brought together to provide each port with the necessary resources to achieve common interests, thereby achieving a win-win situation.

Lai Yun said: “We are mainly responsible for guiding growers, ginning mills and downstream textile mills to carry out planting, production and processing in accordance with the standards of the National Cotton Industry Alliance, so that growers can save costs, increase efficiency, increase production and income. At the same time, we We are also building a Xinjiang cotton quality brand to make Xinjiang cotton more famous and recognized.”

According to statistics, the average cotton yield per mu of the 100,000-mu high-quality cotton base in Changji Agricultural High-tech Zone is about 453 kilograms, and the maximum yield per mu can reach 603 kilograms. At present, the high-quality cotton planting base has harvested more than 30,000 acres of cotton.

Cao Heng, deputy director of the AgricultureScientific and Technological Innovation Bureau of Changji Agricultural High Zone, said: “Changji Agricultural High Zone relies on the Western Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the National Cotton Industry Research institutes such as the Alliance have made breakthroughs in cotton technological innovation, variety development, and the promotion of green, simple, and efficient cultivation technologies; through the establishment of alliances and entity companies, leading companies in the industry have been attracted to join the entire cotton industry chain system of planting, production, and processing. , providing quality services to cotton farmers.”
