Jiang Daoyuan said that in the past, more than a dozen people were employed to grow cotton on more than 100 acres of land, and it took nearly two months to harvest. Now using cotton picking machines, more than 1,000 acres of cotton can be harvested in two days. “Now sowing, fertilizing, spraying pesticides, and harvesting are all mechanized, which not only saves labor costs, but also increases cotton production.” Jiang Daoyuan said.

In order to ensure the smooth progress of the cotton harvest, the Changji Agricultural High District has cooperated with large-scale agricultural machinery cooperatives and major agricultural machinery companies in advance to conduct statistics on agricultural machinery and agricultural machinery operators, and conduct closed-loop management of personnel. At present, there are 37 machines (sets) entering the site, more than 60 cotton picker operators, and more than 300 ginner staff, which effectively ensures the smooth progress of cotton harvesting and processing.

It is understood that relying on platforms such as the Western Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the National Cotton Industry Alliance, Changji Agricultural High Zone adopts the “one factory, one product” model to unify varieties, unify harvesting, and unify sales. At the same time, Changji Agricultural High Zone also relies on cotton varieties such as Zhongmian 113 and Xinluzao 57, which have relatively high yields in the past two years, to build 100,000 acres of high-quality cotton base, of which the core base is 30,000 acres.

According to statistics, the average cotton yield per mu of the 100,000-mu high-quality cotton base in Changji Agricultural High-tech Zone is about 453 kilograms, and the maximum yield per mu can reach 603 kilograms. At present, the high-quality cotton planting base has harvested more than 30,000 acres of cotton.
