Xinhe: High temperature weather affects cotton development and growth. Cotton farmers should strengthen field management
According to the forecast from the Xinjiang Xinhe Meteorological Observatory, it is expected that most areas of Xinhe County will experience high temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius from July 22 to 29, which is not conducive to the growth of cotton.
At present, local cotton is in the flowering and bolling stage, and continued high temperature weather has a negative impact on the growth of cotton flowering and bolling. Most cotton areas will experience varying degrees of high-temperature heat damage, with the desert area in the south experiencing moderate or above high-temperature heat damage.
Production suggestions:
1. Sustained high temperatures have adverse effects on cotton growth. The maximum daily temperature exceeds 37°C. Cotton fields should strengthen field management, reasonably increase water use in cotton fields, and use a small amount of high-frequency water dripping to prevent upcoming high-temperature heat damage;
2. Promptly control the vigorous growth of cotton to promote ventilation and light transmission in cotton fields, reduce the temperature in the canopy, and reduce the impact of high temperature heat damage. At the same time, high temperatures are conducive to the occurrence and development of pests and diseases, and it is necessary to do a good job in monitoring and preventing pests and diseases.
3. Future weather conditions are likely to cause high-temperature agricultural droughts to intensify, and water allocation needs to be done well.
