February 10 is the first day that Guangdong Esquel Textile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Esquel Textile”) fully resumed work.
Esquel Textile has been located in Gaoming District, Foshan City for 32 years. It is the largest textile and garment enterprise in Guangdong Province and the largest pure cotton manufacturer in the world. One of the shirt suppliers, it has multiple factories in Gaoming with a total number of employees of more than 20,000.
On the first day of resumption of work, reporters captured four different scenes at the Esquel Textile Factory, all with the same keyword: fighting the epidemic.
Entrance: Company employees voluntarily undertake the task of temperature detection
“Morning OK, take your temperature.” At 7:25, six staff members wearing goggles and masks held temperature measuring guns, and together with the security guards, lined up at the entrance of the Wenzhu Road company of Esquel Textile General Factory. Colleagues who come to work have their temperatures taken one by one.
Esquel Textiles has nearly 10,000 employees in its main factory. During the current epidemic, in order to reduce the gathering of people during commuting time, Esquel Textile has added personnel to conduct temperature checks at both entrances of the main factory. These personnel include security personnel from the Security Management Department, as well as from various departments in the factory. , all volunteers who voluntarily participate in this work.
At around 8:10, there were obviously more employees coming to work, but there was no queue at the entrance. Six volunteers at the Wenzhu Road entrance skillfully conducted temperature checks for colleagues, speeding up the efficiency of personnel passing through.
Parking lot: The bus driver is also a vehicle disinfectant
At this time , in the parking lot of the company not far from the main factory, shuttle bus driver Li Yongfeng was wearing a white one-piece protective suit, carrying a blue disinfection box, and carefully spraying disinfectant in the bus compartment.
Esquel Textile has a total of more than 40 drivers, who are responsible for the commuting tasks of more than 20,000 employees. After the epidemic hit, drivers also became vehicle disinfectants, spraying disinfectants on vehicles every day.
“The blue disinfection box is used to disinfect large areas of the carriage, while the small white spray bottle is used to carefully wipe the steering wheel, driver’s seat and other blind spots.” Esquel Xu Peihua, leader of the bus team of the Ministry of Textile Transportation Management, said, “Every vehicle must be disinfected before leaving the bus and disinfected after leaving the bus, in order to maximize the protection of every passenger in this confined space.” The safety of our colleagues.”
Production workshop: important passages are cleaned every 2 hours
It is not only the bus carriages that are carefully disinfected, but also the production workshops.
At about 9 o’clock, female workers wearing pink headscarves were busy in the garment workshop. They wore light blue medical masks and carefully completed sewing, cutting and ironing. and other processes. The machines roared in the workshop, and the smell of disinfectant came from time to time.
“In order to ensure the health of employees, we will conduct large-scale cleaning and disinfection of the workshop at least three times a day. In the important passages of the workshop, every They will be disinfected every two hours.” Liu Zhipeng, deputy general manager of the garment factory of Guangdong Esquel Textile Co., Ltd., said that in order to ensure that the epidemic prevention work is in place, the garment factory also mobilized more than ten employees to temporarily transfer jobs to expand the cleaning team. Strength, the existing cleaning staff has been expanded from 15 to more than 30 people.
It is understood that during working days, each employee will receive a medical mask issued by the company for self-protection every day. For some positions with higher protection requirements, such as front-line security guards and staff in special workshops, Esquel Textile will also issue N95 masks to them to strengthen safety protection.
Canteen: extend meal time and disinfect as you eat
10 At 1:30, the staff restaurant of Esquel Textile Factory welcomed the first batch of employees to dine.
In addition to the central kitchen on the first floor, this 6-story staff restaurant can be used for dining on the other five floors. At noon every working day, there are nearly 8,000 employees. Will eat here in batches.
In order to reduce the gathering of people, the restaurant staff adjusted the dining chairs. Taking the fourth floor as an example, the original table for 4 people has been spaced out and changed to a table for 2 people, with only 1 dining chair reserved. The distance between tables is at least one meter, so the restaurant capacity has also been increased from more than 200 people. It was reduced to more than 100 people.
The capacity is reduced and the available meal time is increased. Zhang Yun, manager of Esquel Textile Catering Management Department, said that the original meal time for employees was from 11:00 to 12:30, but now it is changed to 10:30 to 12:45. The total meal time has been extended by 45 minutes, and the meal time has been extended by 45 minutes. The batch size has been changed from the original 30-minute batch to the current 15-minute batch, which greatly reduces the number of diners in the same batch. (The cafeteria of Esquel Textile Factory is also a “college entrance examination style dining”.) “Dear, don’t play with your mobile phone. After eating as soon as possible, go back and take a rest.”. “In the restaurant on the 4th floor. Several staff members shuttled between the seats, friendly reminders to colleagues to reduce their stay in the restaurant. Whenever an employee left the seat with the tableware, the cleaning lady holding a disinfectant spray bottle left immediately. Go forward and spray the potion and wipe the tabletop.
It is still early spring, so all the windows in the restaurant are open to facilitate ventilation.
Dialogue
Liu Zhipeng, deputy general manager of the garment factory of Guangdong Esquel Textile Co., Ltd.:
The current reserve of 300,000 masks can be used by employees for half a month. As a benchmark company in the textile industry, how does Esquel Textile safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of employees and how does it respond to the challenges brought by the epidemic? Guangdong Yiyi Liu Zhipeng, deputy general manager of the garment factory of Da Textile Co., Ltd., said in an interview with reporters that for employees who are unable to come to work due to the epidemic, they will be guaranteed to have a lot of positions and their wages will be high. At the same time, he also hopes that while the government will increase tax and fee reductions, it can also provide some guarantees in strengthening the smooth supply of the upstream and downstream supply chains of enterprises.
Reporter: Today is the first day of Esquel Textile’s full resumption of work. What is the attendance situation of garment factory employees?
Liu Zhipeng :
Our garment factory has a total of more than 3,400 employees, and many of them are from the Pearl River Delta region. Today’s attendance rate exceeds 90%. The remaining less than 10% , some are normal leaves, such as employee maternity leave, annual leave, etc., and a small part are employees who have been affected by the epidemic and need to be quarantined at home.
Reporter: Will the wages and benefits of these quarantined employees be affected?
Liu Zhipeng:
We pay normal wages to this group of employees. For example, if he originally earned 5,000 yuan a month, then during his quarantine period, his salary will still be calculated based on the standard of 5,000 yuan a month. After the Spring Festival, we make garments The factory will provide employees with re-work bonuses, which average more than 1,000 yuan per person. For employees who have been quarantined due to the epidemic, re-work bonuses will also be issued to them normally this year.
一 In short, for employees who are unable to come to work due to the epidemic, we ensure that they have a lot of positions and their wages are worth every penny.
Reporter: What challenges has the epidemic brought to the development of Esquel Textile?
Liu Zhipeng:
This challenge is both internal and external. Internally, it is mainly about how to better protect the health and safety of employees. As early as January 21, Esquel Textile Emergency Command has launched epidemic prevention measures In order to control the epidemic, we used domestic and foreign procurement channels to purchase a large amount of protective equipment in advance, including masks, disinfectant, goggles, protective clothing, gloves, etc. As of today, the company has about 300,000 masks in reserve, enough for all employees to use for half a month.
We have also stepped up publicity on epidemic prevention among our employees. The content of most of the publicity boards in the factory is related to the prevention of COVID-19. Dynamic news about epidemic prevention and control will be sent out in a timely manner to various employee groups, internal TV stations, emails and other channels to ensure that information is open and transparent. When checking for epidemic information, we also sent WeChat messages or called each employee one by one to achieve accurate registration and accurate identification of epidemic prevention. At the same time, we have also allocated and prepared 59 employee dormitories for returning Hubei employees staying in the dormitories for isolation observation, and have dedicated personnel responsible for following up on their daily lives and health data monitoring. Currently, we have also changed on-site recruitment to online recruitment.
Among the external challenges, the one that has a greater impact on us now is the supply of raw materials. Some of our suppliers have not fully resumed work, and the shortage of raw materials may lead to delays in our orders. The extension may bring default risks and also affect our credit ratings among customers. These are interrelated and will ultimately affect our overall development.
Reporter: In the face of these external challenges that may have adverse effects, what are the current response measures of Esquel Textile?
Liu Zhipeng:
We currently have three major response measures. The first is to communicate more with our customers, especially some of our important strategic partners, state more facts, try to gain their understanding and support, and overcome difficulties together. The second is to make appropriate adjustments in the market layout to balance the production capacity among various factories so that productivity can be protected to the greatest extent. We are a manufacturing company that stabilizes employment and labor. We must protect the rights and interests of our employees as much as possible and provide employees with reassurance in terms of information disclosure and salary stability.
Currently, Foshan has also introduced a series of business stabilization measures, which is a major benefit to our company. We also hope that while the government can increase tax and fee reductions, it can also provide some guarantees in strengthening the smooth supply of the supply chain to overcome the current difficulties together.
