TEHRAN – The Mehr news agency quoted an official from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) as saying that Iranian clothing manufacturers shipped goods to 29 foreign destinations in the first five months of this year (March 20 to August 21). Locally exported clothing worth US$35.19 million.
“During the above-mentioned period, Iran exported 4,527 tons of clothing to 29 countries, while last year, Iran The only destination countries for the clothing are Afghanistan, Russia, Iraq and Yemen,” said Ruhollah Latifi, spokesperson for IRICA.
According to Latifi, Iranian clothing is exported to Iraq, Kuwait, Australia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Russia , Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, South Korea, Japan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Côte d’Ivoire, Italy, Turkey, Canada, Qatar, Oman, Nigeria, Switzerland, Pakistan, Georgia, Spain and Denmark.
As reported, less than 2.5 tons of clothing (valued at $514,441) were imported into the country during this period, with most of these products entering the country via passengers or by mail, as imports are prohibited clothing.
According to the chairman of the Federation of Iranian Clothing Manufacturers and Sellers, domestically produced clothing accounts for 70% of domestic clothing demand -80%.
“After the ban on imported clothing, domestic units are making every effort to improve the quality and quantity of their products during the New Year holiday Before (early March), we saw no shortage in the clothing market,” Abolqasem Shirazi said. </p
