Recently, an investor asked on the investor interactive platform: What is the current progress of the 400,000 tons/year ethylene glycol project? Can it be put into trial production as planned in August? When is the specific date of trial production expected? Is the trial production of 400,000 tons of production capacity to be activated all at once or is it trial production in stages?

Guanghui Energy stated on the investor interactive platform on August 2: The 400,000 tons/year ethylene glycol project has completed steam pipeline purging and is undergoing single-machine commissioning. It is expected that Trial production was put into operation in September, with a one-time production capacity of 400,000 tons.

At 11:58 a.m. on May 13, the 35kV substation of the Guanghui Energy Waste Gas Comprehensive Utilization Project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol successfully received power in one go. Conditions for delivering power to all lower-level substations and users throughout the plant. As a key milestone of the project, it marks the beginning of the project’s commissioning phase.

Project Overview

On September 9, 2019, Guanghui Energy’s comprehensive utilization of coal gas shortage project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol started construction. The project relies on Xinjiang Guanghui Coal, a subsidiary of Guanghui Energy Holdings The 10 million tons/year coal classification and upgrading comprehensive utilization project invested by Clean Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. uses by-product waste gas as raw material and uses a series of technologies such as conversion, transformation, adsorption, and separation to produce high-end chemical ethylene glycol.

This project uses the “WHB syngas production and polymerization” jointly developed by China Wuhuan and Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd. and Hebi BMW (Group) Co., Ltd. The third generation technology of “Ester Grade Ethylene Glycol”, through a series of processes such as conversion, transformation, low-temperature methanol washing, PSA adsorption and separation, etc., extracts the high-value synthesis gas components H2 and CO in raw coal gas, and through carbonylation, addition Hydrogen and refining technology produce high-end chemical products – polyester grade ethylene glycol.

Hami Guanghui Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.’s waste gas comprehensive utilization project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol is located in Naomao Lake Industrial Park, Yiwu County, Hami City, Xinjiang, with a total investment of 3.56 billion yuan. The project uses the third-generation technology of “WHB synthesis gas to polyester-grade ethylene glycol” jointly developed by China Wuhuan Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd. and Hebi BMW (Group) Co., Ltd., through conversion, transformation, low-temperature methanol washing, Through a series of processes such as PSA adsorption and separation, the high-value syngas components H2 and CO in raw coal gas are extracted, and high-end chemical products – polyester grade ethylene glycol are produced through carbonylation, hydrogenation, and refining technologies. Data shows that this PSA-CO device is also the largest pressure swing adsorption CO purification device in the world so far.

The Guanghui ethylene glycol project will be built in two phases. The first phase is 200,000 tons, with a total investment of 1.87 billion yuan. 200,000 tons, with a total investment of 1.686 billion yuan.

For a long time, the effective utilization of waste gas resources has been a difficult problem in the industry. Raw coal gas has complex composition and high nitrogen content. Obtaining qualified syngas resources from it requires a series of purification processes, which is extremely difficult. Therefore, in the past, raw coal gas was mostly used for burning for power generation or directly burning and venting, resulting in low energy utilization, heavy waste of resources, and high pressure on environmental protection. This project uses raw coal gas to produce 400,000 tons/year of ethylene glycol. By rationally configuring each processing unit in the purification device and comprehensively considering the current operating experience of the enterprise, the process parameters are continuously calculated and adjusted. At the same time, during the conversion process, The organic sulfur in the raw coal gas is converted into H2S that is easy to recover, and the sulfur is produced through the wet sulfur recovery device, maximizing the utilization of the raw coal gas resources, and ultimately transforming the complex raw gas resources into effective syngas resources. , which can directly reduce CO2 emissions by about 600,000 tons and indirectly reduce CO2 emissions by about 1.7 million tons every year. It is a typical environmental protection, energy saving, and comprehensive utilization project of industrial exhaust gas.

Compared with coal-to-ethylene glycol projects, using raw coal gas to produce ethylene glycol can save more than 30% of project construction investment, significantly reduce the production cost of ethylene glycol products, and improve The overall profitability of the project not only conforms to the new green development concept, but also plays a very positive role in promoting energy conservation and emission reduction and promoting ecological and environmental protection. </p
