Teijin develops new polyester polymerization technology

Japan’s Teijin Group has recently successfully developed PURITY, a polyester polymerization catalyst that does not contain heavy metals such as antimony, and has begun to expand production within the group. At the same time, it has begun the patent transfer of this technology.

It is understood that the main component of the catalyst is titanium. Titanium ranks seventh among the most abundant elements. It is widely used in dental medicine and cosmetics and has no impact on human health or the ecological environment. It can be called an excellent polymerization catalyst from many perspectives such as safety, cost, and environment.

The outstanding advantage of this technology is that it uses a self-developed titanium polymerization catalyst, which does not contain heavy metals at all. It can improve the transparency of polyester products and make the surface of the polyester film smoother, and the quality of the product is not inferior at all. For common products containing heavy metal or rare metal catalysts.

Teijin plans to actively promote this technology among synthetic fiber manufacturers and polyester bottle resin manufacturers. After Teijin announced this news at the end of August this year, manufacturers from Japan and several Asian countries have come to contact us.
