Outlast air conditioning fiber

“Not too hot, not too cold, just right.”

Outlast fiber technology was developed by NASA for the moon landing program. The purpose was to make lunar landing clothing for astronauts, including gloves, socks, underwear, etc., and later developed into general clothing, especially outdoor clothing, including ski shirts, pants, sweaters, etc.

Outlast air-conditioning fiber is a new type of “smart” fiber that was successfully developed in 1988. It was first used for commercial purposes in 1994 and in outdoor clothing in 1997. It is now widely used in fashion and bedding.

Outlast technology is mainly used in acrylic fiber, the specifications are 2.2dex, 3.3dex and 5dex, the length is 51mm, 60~110mm, and it can be used for loose fiber and top.

1 There are two main types of Outlast technology:

(1) Fabric coating: Microcapsules (PCMS) containing Outlast technology are applied to the surface of the fabric. (See Figure 1, left)

(2) Use Outlast technology to implant microcapsules (PCMS) into acrylic fibers. This fiber can be spun. (See Figure 1, right)
