Washing methods and precautions for various cotton fabric materials

1. Cotton fabric

Cotton fabric has strong alkali resistance, not acid resistance, and good high temperature resistance. It can be washed with various soaps or detergents. Before washing, you can soak it in water for a few minutes, but it should not be used for too long to avoid color damage. Underwear should not be soaked in hot water to prevent the protein in sweat stains from coagulating and adhering to the clothing, causing yellow sweat spots to appear. When washing with detergent, the water temperature should be 40-50ºC. When rinsing clothing washing signs, you can master the method of “a small amount and many times”, that is, you do not necessarily need to use a lot of water for each rinse; but you need to wash it several times more. After each rinse, it should be wrung out and rinsed a second time to improve washing efficiency. Clothes should be dried in a ventilated and cool place to avoid exposure to the sun, which may cause colored fabrics to fade. Lay cotton-padded clothing flat to dry to prevent the sleeves from stretching.

2. Linen fiber fabric

Linen fiber is stiff and has poor cohesion. It is lighter than cotton fabric during washing. Do not use a hard brush or rub hard to avoid fluffing on the cloth surface. Do not twist hard after washing, do not soak colored fabrics in hot water, and do not expose them to the sun to avoid fading.

3. Silk fabric

Before washing, soak the garment in water for about 10 minutes. The soaking time should not be too long. Avoid using alkaline water to wash clothing fabrics for washing and ironing. You can use neutral soap or soap flakes and neutral detergent. The bath solution should be lukewarm or room temperature. After washing, gently squeeze out the water and avoid twisting. It should be dried in a cool and ventilated place. It is not suitable to expose the clothing washing label to the sun, and it is not suitable to dry it.

4. Wool fabric

Wool is not resistant to alkali, so it must be washed with neutral detergent or soap tablets. Wool fabrics will shrink and deform in aqueous solutions above 30ºC, so the washing bath temperature should not exceed 40ºC. Aqueous detergent solutions are usually prepared with room temperature (25ºC) water. Do not use a washboard when washing. Even if you use a washing machine to wash, you should wash gently and the washing time should not be too long to prevent shrinkage. After washing, do not wring it. Squeeze it with your hands to remove the moisture, and then drain it. When using a washing machine to dehydrate, half a minute is appropriate. It should be dried in a cool and ventilated place, and should not be exposed to strong sunlight to prevent the fabric from losing its luster and elasticity and causing a decrease in strength. Use softener when washing.

5. Viscose fiber fabric

Viscose fiber has a large shrinkage rate and low wet strength. When washing, it should be soaked with water and cannot be soaked for a long time. Viscose fabrics will harden when exposed to water, so wash them gently to avoid lint or tears. Use neutral detergent or low-alkali detergent. The temperature of the washing liquid must not exceed 45ºC. After washing, fold the clothes, squeeze out a lot of water, and avoid twisting. Avoid exposure to the sun after washing and dry in a cool or ventilated place.

6.Polyester fabric

First soak in cold water for 15 minutes, then wash with general synthetic detergent. The temperature of the washing liquid should not exceed 45ºC. The dirty areas of the collar and cuffs can be scrubbed with a brush. After washing, rinse well, twist it gently, and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry. Do not expose it to the sun or dry it to avoid wrinkles due to heat.
