Many people have misunderstandings or understanding of “Textile Dictionary – Anti-feather Cloth“. Next, let me take you with me to share it with your friends and explore more about “Textile Dictionary – knowledge of “anti-feather cloth“…

 Introduction
Down cloth is a thin fabric with a small linear density and a high density. Because it is often used as a fabric for down clothing and duvets, and can prevent down from drilling out, it is also called anti-down cloth or anti-down cloth.
Commonly used raw materials include pure cotton, polyester/cotton, etc. Down cloth is generally woven with a plain weave, and the warp and weft yarns are mostly combed yarns with a smaller linear density, ranging from 10-29tex (60-20 inches). The warp tightness is above 73%, the weft tightness is above 53%, and the total tightness is above 80%. The fabric tightness is higher than that of ordinary fabrics.
Down cloth has a compact structure, is smooth and clean, has a smooth feel, is rich in luster, is breathable and feather-proof, and is strong and wear-resistant. The gray fabric is finished by anti-feather padding to reduce the gaps between the warp and weft yarns of the fabric and improve the effect of preventing down from drilling out. In addition, chemical coating treatment of medium-density fabrics can also prevent down from drilling out.
Mainly used as fabrics for down jackets, ski shirts, jackets, windbreakers, down quilts, down sleeping bags, down socks, and sleeping bags.
Basic features of anti-down fabric
Anti-down fabric is a kind of fine and high-density (plain weave) fabric that has good warmth retention properties. Anti-down cloth has the following characteristics:
(1) Prevent down from escaping (mainly used in down products).
(2) Good windproof and waterproof effect.
(3) It has a certain degree of water and breathability. But the breathability is not large.
(4) The fabric is light. The cloth surface is even and plump. Smooth to the touch. The structure is tight, the texture is soft, smooth and firm.
(5) The texture is particularly tight, has a silky feel, and has unique down-proof properties.
Design of anti-down fabric
1. Raw materials and organization: The raw materials can be pure cotton fabrics, polyester-cotton blended fabrics, pure cotton fabrics interlaced with polyester fabric filaments or polyester fabric short fiber blended yarns. The organization can use plain fabrics and weft weight flat fabrics. Among them, the warp and weft of plain weave are made of cotton yarn or polyester-cotton blended yarn. The warp yarn of the weft weight flat weave is made of pure cotton strands, and the weft yarn is made of polyester low-fiber filament or polyester-cotton blended yarn. 2. Configuration of warp and weft yarns: The special number (fineness) of warp and weft yarns should be the same or similar, and fine or medium special yarns should be used. (1) The longitude and weft of flat garbage-proof down fabric are 13 to 29 (20 to 45 inches). (2) The warp and weft of the flat anti-down fabric with heavy weft are: warp 73×2-97×2 (60×2-80×2 British count); weft yarn 1667dm (150n) polyester low elastic yarn or 16-18 (32-36 British count) )poly/cotton yarn. 3. The twist and twist direction of the yarn: The twist and twist direction of the yarn have a close relationship with the breathability, porosity, and feel of the fabric. The twist coefficient of warp and weft yarns is slightly lower than that of poplin, but it cannot be too small. In this way, the fabric can be made soft and shiny (because the twist coefficient is reduced, the pores of the warp and weft yarns are correspondingly reduced, the air permeability is reduced, and the hand feel is softer). To increase the softness of the gray fabric. The warp and weft adopt different twist directions. However, due to the requirements of strong feather protection and low air permeability, generally one twist direction is used for warp and weft.
