Not only that, our city is also the largest knitted children’s clothing brand center and children’s clothing production center in the country. It is also the largest infant and children’s clothing production and processing base and wholesale market in the central and western regions.
Baizhuang Town, Beiguan District, has been awarded the title of “China’s Famous Children’s Clothing Town”. Currently, the output of children’s clothing accounts for about 30% of the country’s total, and the output of children’s clothing for infants and young children aged 0 to 3 years old accounts for about 70% of the country’s total. With the rapid development of the underwear manufacturing industry, our city’s annual output exceeds 900 million pieces, and its domestic market share exceeds 20%. The reporter learned that at present, there are about 10,000 textile and garment enterprises (including individual industrial and commercial households) in our city, of which more than 300 have an annual output value of more than 20 million yuan, employ more than 200,000 people, and consume 1 million tons of fabric annually. In the continuous development, more than 800 brand companies have emerged in our city, such as Haoxin, Tinker Bell, Tongxing, Zhengkai, and Lirma, and 13 provincial-level famous trademarks and 20 municipal-level famous trademarks have been born.
In 2022, in the face of many unfavorable factors such as the COVID-19 epidemic, price fluctuations of textile raw materials, restrictions on textile exports in Western countries, and rising labor costs, our city insists on paying equal attention to introduction and transformation. , both increment and quality improvement, and continuous promotion of chain extension and chain strengthening, market player cultivation, environmental pollution control, infrastructure supporting construction and other work have further improved the modernization level and industrial basic capabilities of the textile and garment industry chain, and the city’s textile industry has exceeded the national regulations. The operating income of clothing enterprises was 3.389 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%; the average number of employees was 7,066, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%.
Relevant staff of the Municipal Textile Association said frankly: “Although the foundation of knitted clothing in our city is good, there are currently problems such as a weak awareness of product design innovation, a lack of independent brands and standard systems, and a lack of radiation and driving effects from leading enterprises, which has led to the scale of market entities. Small and weak influence has restricted the textile and clothing industry from moving towards the mid- to high-end.”
