Vietnam’s cotton imports reached 10,000 tons, a year-on-year increase
In July 2018, Vietnam imported 163,000 tons of cotton, a year-on-year increase of 69.8% and a month-on-month increase of 11.4%. U.S. cotton remains Vietnam’s top cotton import variety, with an import volume of 86,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 85%; followed by Australian cotton, with an import volume of 38,400 tons, a year-on-year increase of 106%.
From January to July 2018, Vietnam’s cumulative cotton imports reached 988,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 27.6%, of which US cotton imports reached 522,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.57%; Indian cotton imports reached 180,200 tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.57%. An increase of 39.31%; Brazilian cotton imports totaled 90,500 tons, a year-on-year increase of 292%; Australian cotton imports totaled 60,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 96%.
In July 2018, Vietnam exported textiles and clothing to US$2.871 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.5% and a month-on-month increase of 4.6%. From January to July 2018, Vietnam’s cumulative exports of textiles and clothing reached US$16.527 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.67%. It is expected that Vietnam will complete its textile and apparel export target of US$34-35 billion in 2018, of which yarn exports will be approximately US$4 billion.
