Li Weiqi, director of the Fanchang District Commerce Bureau, analyzed the foreign trade export situation and pointed out that the total export volume of the district has increased year by year, from US$110 million in 2020 to US$220 million in 2022, of which clothing accounts for about 45%. However, this year’s foreign trade export situation is relatively severe. First, the overall market is weak and consumption power is declining; second, trade protectionism is on the rise; third, foreign trade export locations are too concentrated and there are risks; fourth, international foreign trade exports are transforming; and fifth, exchange rate risks.

Hua Guang, deputy director of the Fanchang District Government, pointed out that the current difficulties in the development of textile and clothing in Suncun Town are that enterprises are highly dependent on exports, mainly exporting foreign trade orders, are at the lowest end of the value chain, and lack high-end products such as clothing design and independent brands. Value-added business enterprises are a huge challenge to the transformation and development of the garment industry and the core competitiveness of enterprises. He believes that the current development positioning and development path of Suncun’s textile and apparel industry is unclear, and no entry point or support point can be found, which makes industrial transformation and upgrading slow and implementation difficult. There is an urgent need to intensify the reform of the existing industrial status. Completely break the development dilemma of Suncun’s clothing industry. It is hoped that relying on the guidance of the Provincial Textile Association and the strength of resource integration, we can take the pulse of Suncun Town’s textile and clothing consultation and clarify the new direction of industrial development.

He believed that the foundation for the development of China’s textile and apparel industry is no worse than that of foreign countries. The reason is that R&D cannot keep up and needs technical support.
