-Bangladesh clothing exports to the United States amount to US$1.1 billion
According to a report by Bangladesh’s “Financial Express” on October 7, Bangladesh’s clothing exports to the United States from January to August this year amounted to US$3.71 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.85%. The reasons are: First, the U.S. economic recovery is weak and import demand growth is slowing. Second, competition from other exporting countries is becoming increasingly fierce, especially from Vietnam. In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s clothing exports to the United States amounted to US$7.25 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.04%. Third, the United States has not granted Bangladesh the “tariff-free and quota-free” preferential treatment. At the same time, China’s clothing exports also experienced negative growth, with an amount of US$18.28 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 7.73%. India’s apparel exports amounted to US$2.61 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.06%. Cambodia’s clothing exports amounted to US$1.43 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 14.76%. From January to August, Bangladesh’s clothing exports to the United States amounted to US$3.71 billion
