EU issues consumer warning on children’s sweatshirts made in China
On September 16, 2016, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning (alert number: A12/1120/16) on Chinese-made “Brugi” brand children’s sweatshirts. The notifying country in this case is Slovenia. The product notified this time is a children’s sweatshirt with a drawstring on the hood, suitable for children aged 3 to 5 years old, with sizes 22/24, 98/100 cm. The style/model of the product is JA48. The barcode is 8300163561557. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Industry Classification Code (OECD Portal Category) is 67000000 – Clothing.
The drawstring on the hood of the above sweatshirt may become entangled during children’s activities, resulting in a risk of injury. This product does not comply with the requirements of the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Slovenian authorities have taken measures to delist the above products.
