The national intangible cultural heritage “Jimo Lace” appeared at the Turkish Home Textile Exhibition
From May 16th to 20th, the 2023 Turkish Home Textile Exhibition will be held in Istanbul. The national intangible cultural heritage project “Jimo Lace” in Jimo District, Qingdao was unveiled and received unanimous praise from exhibitors from various countries. Cultural and creative products incorporating lace are even more favored by customers.
According to Ren Hua, chairman of Qingdao Guohua Crafts Co., Ltd., Jimo lace is a traditional folk drawing craft that has been passed down for hundreds of years in the Jimo area of Qingdao. It is also called Jimo lace set because of its needlework technology. Unique, with a shape like a relief, it is known as “the wonderful treasure of the drawn yarn industry” in the international market. The lace products are exported to more than 20 countries and regions in Europe, America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

In June 2021, as a type of Lu embroidery, Jimo lace was announced by the State Council as the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative lists. Protected in inheritance and developed in innovation, Jimo Lace always explores the path of change between inheritance and innovation. Innovatively integrating fashion elements, such as pandas, fish, etc., thousands of patterns have been formed. It has also developed decorative paintings with Jimo lace, zodiac fans, bookmarks and other cultural and creative products to meet the consumer needs of more groups.
