In the first year of fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party and the beginning of the new journey of Chinese-style modernization, I am very pleased to participate in the 2023 China Cotton Textile Conference and the third director (enlarged) meeting of the sixth session of the China Cotton Textile Industry Association. First of all, on behalf of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, I would like to extend my congratulations on the convening of the conference!
The modern industrial system is the material and technological foundation of a modern country, and is an important component and the only way forward for Chinese-style modernization. As an important people’s livelihood industry and real economic sector, building a modern textile industrial system is of great significance. I would like to take this opportunity to share some insights with you on the modernization of the textile industry.
1. The industry has important value and plays a key role in China-style modernization
China’s textile industry has grown together with New China. It is an industrial system that has gradually developed under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. It has distinctive Chinese characteristics, characteristics of the times, and attributes of the people. The value of industry is reflected in the practice of Chinese modernization.

On the new journey, the industry must further consolidate its scale and system advantages, build an industrial structure that matches the population structure, and make greater achievements in the process of organically combining the strategy of expanding domestic demand with deepening supply-side structural reform.
2. Integrating into the modernization of common prosperity for all people, China’s textile industry is an important force in promoting regional coordination
Common prosperity is the essential requirement of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Bridging the gap between urban and rural regions and allowing the first-rich regions to drive the later-rich regions is the key path to achieving common prosperity. The textile industry is distributed in China’s most economically developed and least developed regions. It has a long industrial chain and high correlation. It is easy to penetrate and has great potential. It is an important force in promoting regional development, solving local employment, and improving people’s livelihood. The eastern region is the region with the highest economic vitality, consumption power and internationalization level in my country, and is also the focus of the textile industry’s leadership. The central and western regions are rich in industrial resource elements, huge market potential, and profound cultural heritage. They are where the space and potential of the industry lie. As an important industrial form, textileindustrial clusters are concentrated at the county and township levels and play a special role in promoting rural revitalization and new urbanization. By coordinating the east and west regions, integrating three industries, and linking urban and rural economies, the textile industry demonstrates its important value.
3. Integrating modernization that harmonizes material civilization and spiritual civilization, China’s textile industry is an important force in innovation-driven development
The coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization is a practical need for people to live a better life, and is a distinctive feature of Chinese modernization in the context of the knowledge economy. The textile industry integratestechnological innovation with cultural creativity and is an important carrier for the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization. Industry development reflects technological innovation and creation.
