Among Guangxi’s major trading partners, Guangxi’s import and export volume to Vietnam and Thailand increased by 139% and 196% year-on-year respectively; its import and export volume to the League of Arab States and African countries were 16.07 billion yuan and 11.1 billion yuan respectively, with both year-on-year growth rates. It is worth mentioning that with China’s implementation of “Category B and B control” for new coronavirus infections, Guangxi’s border ports have regained vitality and border trade has accelerated its recovery. From January to April this year, Guangxi’s small-scale border trade and cross-border trade volume reached 25.22 billion yuan and 13.33 billion yuan respectively, a year-on-year increase of 110.9% and 423.2% respectively.

In the first four months of this year, the import and export volume of 11 cities in Guangxi, including Chongzuo, Nanning, and Fangchenggang, all achieved positive growth. Among them, the import and export volume of three cities, Chongzuo, Baise, and Hezhou, doubled.

Nanning Customs believes that the rapid growth of Guangxi’s foreign trade is also due to the continuous release of policy dividends from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). In the first four months of this year, Guangxi’s imports and exports to RCEP member countries were 119.21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 107.9%, driving Guangxi’s foreign trade growth by 43.7 percentage points during the same period. The import and export volume of Guangxi’s electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry, and textile and clothing industry have all doubled.

The relevant person in charge of the Department of Commerce of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said that in the future, Guangxi will continue to tap the potential of foreign trade, increase the organization of foreign trade supply through multiple channels, and ensure the export of key products such as new energy vehicles and lithium batteries. At the same time, we will strengthen customs clearance service guarantees, maintain the growth momentum of border trade, intensify the pilot program of mutual maritime trade, and increase the number and value of import commodities.
