Fuling launches sericulture trial of new varieties of silkworms with natural colored cocoons

In order to promote the high quality development of the sericulture and meet the market’s demand for special raw materials, in the spring of 2023, Fuling District introduced new silkworm varieties with natural colored cocoons from Tongxiang, Zhejiang 200 sheets of Mercury No. 1 (Qiufang × Jinyu). Ants of this variety were harvested on April 21, 2023, and silkworms were divided through co-breeding. They were raised by farmers in Quxi, Honghu, Hekou, Shuikou, Xinwan, Dishui and other villages in Zhenxi Town , has now entered the 3rd instar silkworm feeding stage (due to the lower temperature in the early stage), and judging from the current growth and development, they are all growing well.

This variety is the Zhejiang silkworm 2019001 approved variety. This variety is a golden cocoon silkworm variety. It is introduced and raised in our area.
