Shaya: After the rain, the low-temperature soil compacted, and cotton farmers rushed to remedy it
According to a cotton farmer in Hongqi Township, Shaya County, Xinjiang, this year the farmer planted more than 2,300 acres of cotton. Since April 19, there have been two consecutive heavy rains, the temperature has dropped, and the land has become seriously hardened. Machinery is currently being installed. Soil loosening operations ensure soil permeability and improve the seedling emergence rate of cotton fields. In view of the phenomenon that some cotton seedlings freeze to death due to low temperatures after heavy rains, artificial replanting can only be carried out according to the situation in the later period. The weather in the beginning of spring this year was significantly worse than last year, and cotton seedlings had already emerged in the same period last year.
