Hami City: The demonstration and driving role of new cotton varieties is highlighted
In recent years, the Hami Agricultural Machinery Technology Extension Service Center has focused on improving cotton quality and efficiency, increasing demonstration planting of new cotton varieties, guiding cotton growers to promote the planting of new varieties of cotton, and helping to increase cotton production, efficiency and income. . Wang Decai is a major cotton grower in Huoshiquan Village, Erbao Town. He has been growing cotton for more than ten years and currently has 1,000 acres of cotton land. In order to continue to have a good cotton harvest this year, Wang Decai actively organized manpower in mid-April to seize the farming season and start cotton sowing.
It is reported that the total area of cotton planting in Erbao Town, Yizhou District is 42,716.3 acres, and there are 452 households, mainly distributed in 9 villages in the town. Cotton planting is one of the main agricultural economic sources of the town. The main recommended varieties are Xinluzhong No. 67 and Xinluzhong No. 84. At present, the Municipal Agricultural and Agricultural Machinery Technology Extension Service Center has introduced 12 new cotton varieties for trial demonstration in the main cotton producing areas of Hami. Among them, three varieties, Xinluzhong 78, Tahe No. 2, and AW04, have been selected for use in Hami country. Planted in the Agricultural Science and Technology Park, a total of 120 acres are planted. These three varieties of cotton all have the characteristics of high yield, disease resistance and stress resistance.
Cotton seeds need to be sprayed with herbicides before they are officially sown. In a cotton field in the Hami National Agricultural Science and Technology Park, Peng Xuezhi, an agricultural machinery operator from the Hami New Farmers Characteristic Agriculture Cooperative, is spraying the herbicides pendimethalin and trifluralin. According to reports, the cotton sowing area in Hami City this year is about 300,000 acres, and the “one primary and two auxiliary” planting model will continue to be promoted. Adopt the “five unifications” management model of unified variety layout, unified sowing, unified soil testing and fertilizer formula, unified field management, and unified quality standards to effectively improve cotton production management in Hami Cotton District level and promote the overall improvement of regional cotton quality. To lay a solid foundation for helping cotton farmers increase their income. This year’s demonstration trial planted three varieties, led by Tahe No. 2, with a demonstration area of 1,000 acres. Currently, two varieties have been promoted and planted by cotton farmers.
