85,000 acres of cotton sowing in Bohu County begins
People are diligent, spring comes early, and cotton fields are busy with farming. In the past few days, various towns and villages in Bohu County have seized the favorable opportunity of rising temperatures and good soil moisture to carry out cotton sowing at the right time. Agricultural technicians at all levels have gone deep into the fields to provide follow-up guidance from land preparation, seed selection, sowing and other procedures to prepare the ground for this year’s cotton. A good harvest will lay a solid foundation.
On April 10, in the cotton field of Kudelike Village, Bostenhu Township, Bohu County, Mian Chen Yukao and his growers were driving a large agricultural machine with a satellite navigation system to sow cotton. According to Chen Yukao, his family has planted more than 2,000 acres of cotton this year, all using dry sowing, wet sowing and Beidou navigation technology, which has greatly saved costs and increased yields.
Bohu County cotton farmer Chen Yukao said: “This year we adopted dry sowing and wet sowing, which can save costs and water. About 100 cubic meters per acre of land can be saved. We use Beidou navigation sowing, which is precise. The advantage of sowing is that it can save costs and labor. This year, more than 2,000 acres of land have been planted, and the sowing should be completed in about ten days.”
Chen Yukao, who is in his 40s, has been growing cotton since 2001. At the beginning, sowing, pulling drip irrigation belts, laying film, spraying pesticides, and harvesting cotton were all manual operations. With the development of agricultural technology and the promotion of national subsidy policies, in recent years, he has taken the initiative to learn the mechanized management model, introduced agricultural machinery, and used Beidou navigation seeding technology. Under the guidance of the Beidou navigation system, the agricultural machinery follows the set route and realizes automatic driving. , it can complete operations such as laying film, laying drip irrigation tape, sowing, and covering soil in one go. The sowing rows are straight, the farming is precise, and the operation rate is high. The cotton yield is also rising year by year. At the same time, when the cotton matures, it is also convenient for mechanized harvesting.
Bosten Lake Township is the main cotton producing area in Bohu County. It has hot summers, dry climate, sufficient light and heat resources, and long sunshine hours. It is especially suitable for cotton cultivation. The raw cotton produced has good color, long fiber and high quality. At present, cotton planting work is in full swing in Bosten Lake Township, Bohu County. In view of the current cotton sowing, the staff of Bohu County Agricultural Machinery Promotion Station went to the fields to provide technical service guidance, publicize the convenience brought by “smart agriculture”, change farmers’ traditional farming concepts and habits, and allow farmers to get on the high-tech “fast track”.
It is understood that the Beidou navigation system can operate 24 hours a day and all day, increasing the locomotive’s operating area and operating accuracy. Within 1,000 meters, its error is only within 2.5 centimeters, improving land utilization. At present, everything from plowing, sowing, weeding, fertilizing, etc. is mechanized. With the popularization of mechanization, farmers can truly increase production and income.
In recent years, Bohu County has actively guided cotton growers to follow the path of scientific planting, scientific planting and scientific management, and integrated and applied cotton Beidou navigation seeding technology, chemical topping technology, and mechanized harvesting technology into cotton production to achieve mechanization. The operation rate reaches more than 80%. It is expected that cotton planting in the county will be completed by the end of April.
