Guangdong Province “guides” the digital transformation of the textile and apparel industry
The Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the “Guidelines for the Digital Transformation of the Textile and Apparel Industry in Guangdong Province” (hereinafter referred to as the “Transformation Guidelines”). By 2025, the integration level of the two industries in the province’s textile and apparel industry will reach more than 60%. The proportion of enterprises above designated size reaches more than 70%. At the same time, a number of 5G fully connected factories, intelligent manufacturing demonstration factories and excellent application scenarios will also be cultivated in the textile and apparel industry.
The textile and garment industry is one of Guangdong’s strategic pillars industrial clusters. Industry experts believe that in order to achieve a fundamental transformation from product to brand and transform quality advantages into brand advantages, it is urgent to give full play to the amplification, superposition, and multiplication effects of digital technology to further enhance Product added value and brand premium.
“Clothing and apparel are non-standardized products, with widely varying styles, structures and production logic. It is difficult to form a unified standard technically. Companies doing digital R&D often look at problems from the perspective of the Internet, and have a clear understanding of the clothing industry and ergonomics. The understanding of the structure still needs to be deepened.” In recent years, Chen Zhiguang, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Exception Clothing Co., Ltd., has deeply felt the necessity and urgency of digital transformation, but also deeply felt the difficulties faced by the digital transformation of the textile and apparel industry.
To this end, the “Transformation Guidelines” focus on the application of digital technology in key aspects of the textile and apparel industry, such as R&D and design, production and manufacturing, operation management, and public services, and provide specific guidance.
For example, guide clusters to build industrial Internet platforms that serve the regional textile industry, carry out data collection, mining and innovative applications, mine and refine application scenarios and corresponding solutions that are suitable for the characteristics of the textile and apparel industry and solve practical problems in the industry, and build industrial clusters for textile and apparel industries. Industry industrial Internet platform system to create 3-5 industrial Internet demonstration bases for the textile and garment industry.
In terms of digital transformation of the design departments of clothing enterprises, measures such as the establishment of a number of enterprise-level and prefecture-level industrial design centers and the creation of several industrial design centers at or above the provincial level have been proposed. In terms of business model innovation, support new concepts such as “new retail” and give full play to the experience, interaction and spatial functional advantages of the physical market platform to boost the real market economy. At the same time, digital technologies such as radio frequency chips, QR codes, barcodes, and cards are used to establish a textile and clothing product recognition system and an after-sales service system.
Guangdong Province will also promote textile and garment enterprises to strengthen in-depth cooperation with textile and garment stores, dealers, e-commerce platforms, etc., and make full use of various platform data banks, Analyze and excavate consumer group portraits, incubate and cultivate hot-selling products, enable enterprises to shift from “selling whatever they produce” to “producing whatever they need”, and create new online consumer brands with characteristics and influence. Fully tap the data resources of textile and apparel exhibitions in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and other places to provide support for exhibition recruitment, investment promotion, services and the formulation of industry policies.
In view of the characteristics of private enterprises in the textile and garment industry, which are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, the “Transformation Guidelines” start from the aspects where the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises has urgent needs, and proposes to develop low-cost, lightweight, platform-based and fast-effective products suitable for the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. digital solutions, promote enterprises to join the platform, and support research institutions in building public service platforms for them.
Guangdong Province will also help enterprises conduct diagnostic consultation in digital transformation and provide solutions and applications and other services. By organizing and identifying public service platforms for small and medium-sized enterprises in the industry, while promoting the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, we will strengthen research on the development of digitalization in the industry and promote the development of standards related to digitalization in the industry.
