From March 28th to 30th, as an important institution that guides and promotes the sustainable development of the industry, the Social Responsibility Office of the ChinaTextile Industry Federation (hereinafter referred to as “China Textile Federation” Social Responsibility Office”) continued to open a sustainable innovation area with the theme of “sustainable innovation” at the China International Textile Fabrics and Accessories (Spring and Summer) Expo (hereinafter referred to as “intertextile Spring and Summer Fabric Accessories Expo”). This time, the sustainable innovation zone exhibition area broke the convention and changed the pattern of “concave shape” to create a tree with unique shape and great “content”. The color of the tree is selected from the four main topics on environmental issues that China Textile Federation is responsible for: chemical management innovation, water management innovation, fashion recycling innovation, and fashion climate innovation, adding a bit of color to the sustainable innovation area. . It is understood that the core of LCA is the study of environmental factors and their potential impacts throughout the “full life cycle” of a product (from the acquisition of raw materials, production, use to final disposal).
Different from the main color of green in the past, the main visual and display racks of this sustainable exhibition area bring brighter red and blue. By referring to the red and blue stripes of China’s atmospheric temperature change map, eye-catching and lively colors are selected to harmonize , symbolizing the integration and collision of human carbon reduction and industrial development; using the shape of water ripples, which means “the best is like water, water benefits all things without dispute”, reflecting the contribution of the Social Responsibility Office in promoting the sustainable development of the industry; water is invisible It is colorless and nourishes all things, which explains that the transformation of sustainable development will gradually penetrate the entire industry chain. In recent years, the China Textile Federation has set up a sustainable innovation area at the Intertextile Textile Accessories Exhibition with different themes every year, displaying the full life cycle of corporate brands by combining physical objects with graphics and text, and visual and tactile methods. The project progress and results of the evaluation working group have received widespread attention from visitors.
It is worth mentioning that in June 2021, the China Textile Federation launched the “China Fashion Brand Climate Innovation Carbon Neutral Acceleration Plan” and selected a group of the top 500 most competitive companies in China’s textile and apparel industry. Enterprises, give priority to supporting 30 key brands and 60 key manufacturing companies to carry out climate innovation actions, and guide key industrial clusters to conduct carbon-neutral demonstrations of climate innovation actions.
In May 2020, the responsible office of China Textile Federation officially launched the sustainable textiles “Full Life Cycle Assessment” project, and joined a group of leading enterprises in the Chinese textile and apparel industry to carry out product life cycle assessment work. In order to promote climate innovation actions in the industry and increase the advancement of life cycle assessment projects, the China Textile Federation initiated and established the China Textile and Apparel Industry Life Cycle Assessment Working Group in December 2020 to guide the industry in the development of textile products. As of February 2023, the products evaluated by the working group involve 27 brands, 71 individual products, 129 manufacturers and 11 types of raw materials.
In June 2021, the China Textile Federation launched the “Chinese Fashion Brands Climate Innovation Carbon Neutral Acceleration Plan” (“30·60 Carbon Neutrality Acceleration Plan” ), this plan will, under the guidance of relevant departments and with the support of technical institutions, promote a group of China’s top 500 most competitive companies in the textile and apparel industry, give priority to 30 key brand companies and 60 key manufacturing companies to carry out climate innovation actions, and guide Key industrial clusters will conduct carbon-neutral pilot demonstrations of climate innovation actions. By the end of 2022, 21 brand companies and 41 manufacturing companies have joined the “30·60 Carbon Neutrality Acceleration Plan”.
