On March 23, the first working meeting of the Shaanxi Provincial Silkworm Variety Identification Professional Committee was held in Xi’an. Wang Zhouping, director of the Shaanxi Provincial Silkworm Variety Recognition Professional Committee and director of the Provincial Horticulture Station, presided over the meeting. Leaders from the Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee Office and the Department’s Planting Industry Division attended the meeting to provide guidance. Members of the Provincial Silkworm Variety Recognition Professional Committee and relevant staff attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the responsibilities of the Shaanxi Province Silkworm Variety Certification Professional Committee; in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and national standards, the “Shaanxi Province Silkworm Variety Certification Implementation Measures (Trial)” and the Shaanxi Province Mulberry Variety Certification Implementation Measures (Trial) Review and revision were carried out, and work related to the approval of silkworm varieties in the next stage was arranged and deployed.
Fan Dongsheng, Director of the Office of the Shaanxi Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee, introduced the crop variety approval procedures and precautions in Shaanxi Province, emphasizing that the Provincial Silkworm Variety Approval Professional Committee, as a professional committee established by the Shaanxi Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee, is mainly responsible for the province-wide In the identification and approval work of mulberry and silkworm varieties, the professional committee must strictly follow the variety identification and approval procedures, formulate complete professional and technical standards, perform their duties in accordance with the law, and standardize operations, so as to provide the province’s mulberry and silkworm varieties with standardized procedures. Provide effective support for protection and utilization.
Wang Zhouping pointed out at the conclusion of the meeting that the establishment of the Provincial Silkworm Variety Identification Professional Committee is an important measure for the protection of mulberry and silkworm germplasm resources in Shaanxi Province. It must start work according to procedures as soon as possible and perform its duties with heart and soul. In the next step, it is necessary to fully comply with relevant national laws and regulations to formulate professional and technical standards for the identification of mulberry and silkworm varieties; do a good job in overall coordination and release relevant documents for the identification of mulberry and silkworm varieties; strengthen the sorting of germplasm resources, and timely establish mulberry and silkworm varieties in Shaanxi Province Resource library, making positive contributions to the protection and utilization of mulberry and silkworm variety resources and the development of the sericulture industry in Shaanxi.
