The Quality Inspection Center of the Ministry of Agriculture randomly inspects the quality of silkworm seeds for spring use in Jiangsu Province in 2023

From February 6th to 7th, Researcher Chen Tao, Deputy Director of the Sericulture Industry ProductQuality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Zhenjiang) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Associate Researcher Zhang Meirong, Associate researcher Yao Xiaohui and her party carried out quality sampling inspection of silkworm seeds for spring use in Jiangsu Province in 2023. Deputy Section Chief Wang Xin of the Provincial Sericulture Research Institute, Dr. Jiang Tao, agronomist Yao Yinbang and others accompanied the sampling.

In accordance with the requirements of the “Notice on Carrying out Random Inspections on the Quality of Mulberry Silkworm Seeds for Production in 2023”, the sampling team conducted separate inspections of refrigerated silkworm seeds stored in Zhenjiang Silkworm Breeding Farm Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Silkworm Source Co., Ltd. and Yancheng Forest Silkworm Seed Co., Ltd. The new year silkworm seeds produced by the seedling service center in 2022 will be subject to quality inspection and appearance inspection. A total of 3 batches of original seeds and 18 batches of first-generation hybrids from 9 silkworm production units were sampled in this sampling, covering the province’s main promoted silkworm varieties Jingsong × Haoyue, Suhao × Zhongye (anti), Huakang No. 3 and new silkworm variety Su Rong × Xiyu, the sampling coverage rate of production enterprises is 100%. This random inspection is of great significance to further strengthen the quality supervision of silkworm seeds in the province and ensure the safety of seeds for spring production at each base.
