On the 17th, Xu Shengfu, an employee of the 16th Company of the 150th Regiment of the 8th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, was mechanically harvesting cotton and finishing the work. This marks that all 236,800 acres of machine-picked cotton in the regiment have been harvested, and harvesting has ended 7 days earlier than the same period last year.
This year, the 150th Regiment insists on improving the efficiency of cotton planting as a breakthrough, adopts overall promotion, technical services, demonstration and guidance, etc., and pays close attention to the quality of field operations and various technologies. Measures to effectively improve the quality of cotton field management and production efficiency of the entire group.
Chen Guan, deputy secretary and company commander of the 16th Company of the 150th Regiment, said: “This year, our company’s employees have implemented mechanized operations from cotton sowing, spraying, and harvesting to speed up the harvesting progress while ensuring quality. This is the last cotton field in our company and is about to be harvested. The flower picking ends one week earlier than in previous years.”
In order to ensure the quality of machine-picked seed cotton and improve the quality of machine-picked cotton, the 150 Group took multiple measures to control cotton moisture and lay a solid foundation for machine-picked cotton processing. At the same time, each agricultural company will evaluate the defoliation rate and flocculation rate of each cotton field before harvesting. Only those that meet the harvesting standards can enter the field for harvesting.
It is understood that 100% of the 236,800 acres of cotton planted by the 150 Regiment this year will be harvested by machine. At present, the cotton harvesting work of the regiment has been successfully concluded. Each company is actively seizing the current fine weather. While continuing to do a good job in hauling and selling cotton, the focus of the “Three Autumn” work has shifted to wrapping film, cutting stalks, Plowing and other autumn preparation work will lay a solid foundation for next year’s agricultural production.
