Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Sericulture Society, the Provincial Silk Association, and the Provincial Sericulture Research Institute jointly issued the “About the Announcement of the Promotion Results of “Jiangsu Province Sericulture Industry Strong Town” Notice”, four towns in the province were recommended, namely: Dagong Town in Hai’an City, Teyong Town in Sheyang County, Fu’an Town in Dongtai City, and Tangyang Town in Dongtai City.

It is reported that Dagong Town, Hai’an City is the main origin of the national geographical protected indication product “Hai’an Mulberry Cocoon”. From 2018 to 2020, Dagong Town undertook and completed the Jiangsu Province Cocoon Silk Industry Promotion and Development Demonstration Town Creation Project. It is the birthplace of Haian’s first sericulture family farm, and is the birthplace of the Sericulture Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Suzhou University’s new varieties and new Technology demonstration and promotion base. The town’s mulberry garden covers an area of 15,000 acres, and more than 50,000 silkworm seeds are raised every year. The annual cocoon output is more than 2,000 tons, and the cocoon output per mu is more than 140 kilograms. The annual sericulture comprehensive output value exceeds 100 million yuan. Xinyuan Cocoon Silk Group Co., Ltd., a national-level leading agricultural industrialization enterprise, has fully implemented order acquisition of silkworm cocoons in Dagong Town.
