Chen Xinwei, President of the Chemical Fiber Association: my country’s chemical fiber industry has formed a full industry chain development model
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China’s chemical fiber industry system construction has been continuously strengthened. Not only has the conventional fiber field maintained an international leading level, high-tech fibers have also achieved major breakthroughs and entered the ranks of advanced countries. The industry scale also ranks first in the world.
Statistics show that domestic chemical fiber production increased from 38.37 million tons in 2012, accounting for nearly 65% of the global share and 77% of China’s total fiber processing. Exports247 million tons. By 2021, the output will exceed 65 million tons, accounting for more than 70% of the world. It will account for nearly 85% of China’s total fiber processing. Exports will exceed 5 million tons, accounting for more than 50% of global trade, ranking first in the world. one.
With the expansion of scale, the structural adjustment of my country’s chemical fiber industry is also continuing to advance. Especially since the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan“, advantageous enterprises in the industry have achieved success through mergers and reorganizations. Rapid expansion and significant increase in industrial concentration. Polyester The increase in production capacity concentration in the civilian filament field is particularly prominent. The production capacity concentration of the top six companies in 2021 will reach 61.5%, an increase of 27.5 percentage points from 2012.
At present, China’s chemical fiber industry maintains an international leading level in the field of conventional fibers. It is characterized by five aspects of advanced functional fibers – ultra-high performance, intelligent, and multi-functionality. , green, low-carbon, and high added value are all leading the world; high-tech fibers have achieved major breakthroughs and entered the ranks of advanced countries; an industrial structure with complete varieties and complete industrial chains has been formed, and it is the producer of chemical fibers with the widest coverage in the world. Among them, the production scale of traditional varieties such as regenerated cellulose fiber, polyester, nylon, acrylic fiber, spandex ranks first in the world. . The growth of domestic high-performance fiber production capacity and output was close to or exceeding 100% during the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, becoming a new economic growth point for the industry.
With the continuous breakthroughs in key industrialization technologies, domestic high-performance fibers and bio-based fibers have shown strong development momentum. The annual output of high-performance fibers such as carbon fiber, aramid, ultra-high molecular quality polyethylene fiber and continuous basalt fiber is Breaking through 10,000 tons, the market share ranks among the top three in the world; products such as polyphenylene sulfide fiber and polytetrafluoroethylene fiber are also developing steadily; Lyocell fiber, bamboo pulp fiber, polylactic acid (PLA) fiber, bio-based polyamide fiber, bio-based fiber, etc. Bio-based fibers such as protein fiber have achieved large-scale production; seaweed fiber, chitosan fiber, PHBV/PLA blend fiber, and hemp pulp fiber have also achieved stable production.
At the same time, with the development of refining and chemical integration and the continuous improvement of industrial chain supporting facilities, China’s chemical fiber industry has realized an integrated development model of the entire industry chain from crude oil refining to chemical fiber textiles. As of 2021, China’s chemical fiber industry has formed a number of large-scale enterprise groups with international competitiveness, such as Hengli Group, Rongsheng Group, Hengyi Group, Shenghong Group, Tongkun Group, Xinfengming Group, etc. Polyester head companies include nylon head companies represented by Hengshen Group and Jinjiang Technology, and carbon fiber head companies represented by Zhongfu Shenying, Guangwei Composite Materials, Jiangsu Hengshen, Jilin Carbon Valley, etc. Hengli Group, Rongsheng Group, Hengyi Group, and Shenghong Group have even entered the Fortune Global 500 list.
In recent years, the new projects of leading chemical fiber companies have adopted the world’s new technologies, new processes and new equipment, representing the world’s most advanced productivity and promoting my country’s chemical fiber industry to continue to be at the forefront of the development of the world’s chemical fiber industry.
