Recently, the purchase of autumn silkworm cocoons in Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province has been completed. This year’s autumn silkworm production has been adversely affected by persistent high temperatures and drought in the early stage, sudden temperature drops in the later stage, high incidence of pests and diseases (the incidence of mulberry borer is more than 10 times that of the same period last year), frequent use of pesticides, and susceptibility to silkworm diseases. The Sericulture Technical Service Department of Dongtai Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, under the guidance of provincial and municipal industry authorities, works together with relevant township sericulture departments and leading enterprises to predict in advance, formulate plans, carefully organize, and provide precise services to ensure the safety and security of sericulture production. social stability. First, we focus on virus prevention and security to avoid poisoning and cocoon-free accidents caused by regional pesticide pollution; second, we focus on pest prevention and control, effectively controlling major mulberry pests and diseases such as mulberry borers, mulberry gall mosquitoes, and mulberry blight, basically ensuring the use of autumn silkworms. High-quality leaves and sufficient quantity; focus on three technical keys to promote quality improvement and increase production. Through special training, radio lectures, agricultural public accounts, WeChat groups, agricultural express trains, and the issuance of technical reminder sheets, we guide silkworm farmers to do a good job in raising autumn silkworms. The incidence rate of autumn silkworms is the lowest in autumn in previous years; four services are provided at the grassroots level to ensure that technical measures are in place in a timely manner. Municipal and town sericulture technicians insist on in-depth field investigations in silkworm rooms and mulberry gardens, and deal with problems found in a timely manner to ensure high quality and high yields of autumn silkworms.
In the next step, Dongtai City will organize the disinfection of silkworm rooms, silkworm gear, and mulberry sheds, close the mulberry orchards for pest control, and interplant mulberry orchards.
