Fenggang, Guizhou: The entire sericulture industry chain helps rural revitalization
Sericulture is one of the pillar industries of agriculture in Fenggang County. In recent years, Fenggang County has built a whole sericulture industry chain that organically integrates ecological restoration and comprehensive utilization according to local conditions, and has built the sericulture industry into the county’s consolidated and expanded poverty alleviation achievement. We strive to achieve highquality development through industries that enrich the people and are effectively connected with rural revitalization.
Walking into Daxing Village, Yachuan Town, there are green mulberry trees all over the mountains and plains, and many villagers are busy picking mulberries to feed silkworms. In December 2020, Wang Chaobo, a large sericulture farmer, led by the “two committees” of the village branch, transferred 120 acres of abandoned land for planting mulberry and raising sericulture. Now that the mulberry trees have entered a period of high yield, mulberry leaves can be picked every day to feed silkworms.
Wang Chaobo, a villager in Daxing Village, Yachuan Town, said: “We raised three batches of silkworms in the first half of this year, and plan to raise two more batches in the second half of the year. It is expected that the income this year will be about 180,000 yuan. This industry is still good, and it is planned to continue to circulate next year Dozens of acres of land will be used to develop a new mulberry garden and expand a standardized large silkworm house to create more employment for the local labor force.”
Jia Yin, the mayor of Yachuan Town, said: “We make full use of the remediation of abandoned land to bring the sericulture industry up the mountain. Because the root system of sericulture is relatively developed, it can not only ensure water and soil, but also increase the income of the people. So far, , a total of 69 farmers in the town developed 3,300 acres of sericulture, with an average output value of more than 2,000 yuan per mu, truly turning green waters and lush mountains into gold and silver.”
Also planting mulberries and raising silkworms, Evolution Town uses the characteristics of mulberry trees to make the “stones” green. Under the “double” guarantee of policy support and technical support, the people have more confidence in developing the sericulture industry and accelerating the pace of increasing income.
An Xuangang, director of the Agricultural Service Center of Evolution Town, said: “First, sericulture has very strong drought resistance and flood resistance, which is unmatched by other cash crops; second, it is our policy advantage, and we have introduced a series of The subsidy policy; third, a sericulture technical service agency has been established to provide technical services to mulberry farmers free of charge; fourth, two silk reeling factories have been specially introduced to the county, so ordinary people do not have to worry about the market of the silkworm cocoons produced.”
Du Yingcheng, an agronomist at the county sericulture industry development leading group office, said that in 2022 we will add 2,100 acres of mulberry fields, with a survival rate of more than 98%. It is expected that 10,000 silkworms can be raised throughout the year, and the output can reach 500 tons. The output value reaches 25 million yuan, and each sericulture household can increase their income by more than 50,000 yuan.
To build the entire sericulture industry chain, good production is the key. In the silk reeling factory of Zunyi Star Silk Road Biotechnology Co., Ltd., machines roared, wheels whirled, cocoons were boiled, spun, and braided, creating a busy scene. It is understood that the company is a key project of East-West collaboration in 2020, and its main construction contents include a silkworm planting and breeding base, cocoon silk deep processing project, etc.
Chen Shugui, general manager of Zunyi Star Silk Road Biotechnology Co., Ltd., said that the company’s six silk reeling production lines and nine silk quilt production lines have been installed and debugged and have entered the full production stage. The company has purchased a total of 300 tons of fresh cocoons this year and is expected to purchase them throughout the year. The total industrial output value has reached more than 20 million yuan, and more than 200 people have been employed.
At the same time, Fenggang County has also increased the comprehensive development and utilization of sericulture biological products. At the mulberry branch edible fungus base of Guizhou Xinhui Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., the mulberry branches are crushed and fermented, and then processed into a root fungus stick. . Through the production of mulberry edible fungi, discarded mulberry branches are turned into treasure and properly disposed of, further increasing the economic value of sericulture. Products such as mulberry tea and mulberry leaf noodles have also been successfully launched.
Su Hui, general manager of Guizhou Xinhui Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., said that mulberry branches are a very good raw material. Our factory purchases 600,000 tons of mulberry branches every year to process into mushroom sticks, which are mainly sold to Meitan and Zheng’an. , Chishui and other places, the annual sales volume is 2 million sticks, and the supply exceeds demand in the market.
Fenggang County is a large-scale and intensive sericulture base in Zunyi City. The county’s mulberry garden area is 50,000 acres, and its annual silkworm cocoon output ranks first in Zunyi. Through full-chain development, all-round guarantees, and whole-society linkage, Fenggang County has formed an organic combination of the traditional cocoon silk industry and the comprehensive development and utilization of sericulture. Next, Fenggang County will continue to promote the research and development of high-quality and distinctive sericulture biological products, improve the entire sericulture industry chain, and drive more people to increase their income.
