Measures to combat high temperature and drought in sericulture production in Chongqing
At present, autumn silkworm breeding has begun in full swing. Due to the continuous impact of high temperature and drought weather, mulberry trees in some mulberry orchards have stopped growing, and their leaves have begun to wilt, turn yellow, and fall off. The top priority is to strengthen technical guidance and do a good job in mulberry tree drought resistance, insect and disease prevention, and insulation and cooling of the sericulture environment to ensure the success of sericulture in autumn. . Specifically, do the following:
1. Do a good job in drought resistance in mulberry gardens
(1) Irrigation and drought resistance. Carry out drought-resistant irrigation, dig 1 to 2 30 cm deep irrigation holes under the drip line of mulberry trees, and cover the irrigation holes after sufficient watering; mulberry gardens with drip pipes and other irrigation facilities can be irrigated at a fixed rate. Irrigation should be done before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
(2) Straw mulching protects moisture and resists drought. Use rice straw or weeds to cover the ground of the mulberry garden with a thickness of 10 to 20 centimeters. Leave a gap of 10 to 15 centimeters between the cover and the trunk to prevent damage to the tree caused by heat generated by the fermentation of the cover.
(3) Foliar spraying of drought-resistant agents. In the early morning or evening, spraying a drought-resistant agent that is safe and non-toxic to silkworms on the leaves can reduce leaf transpiration and improve the tree’s ability to withstand drought and stress.
(4) Pruning and fertilizing of mulberry trees. After the drought improves, cut off dead branches, dry branches, drooping branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, maintain 6,000 to 8,000 effective mulberry strips per acre of mulberry garden, and increase the application of quick-acting fertilizer to ensure silkworm production in mid-late autumn.
(5) Insect-proof management of mulberry trees. At present, mulberry borers and whiteflies are the most harmful to mulberry gardens. Use 60% Dichlorvos Horse EC 1500 times or 75% Dichlorvos EC 1500 times to spray the tops of new shoots. The safety interval is 7 days and must be certain before harvesting leaves. You should try feeding first, and then you can collect a large amount of leaves to feed silkworms when it is safe.
2. Ensure facility cooling and feeding management
(1) Cooling down of facilities. When raising silkworms, you should try to choose a silkworm house that is shaded and cool, without direct sunlight, and with a hanging sunshade net. Indoors, use air conditioners, fans, cold water, sprinkle water on the ground, etc. to cool down and moisturize; for silkworm houses with a sprinkler system, the cooling effect is better with spray.
(2) Storage of mulberry leaves. The mulberry leaves should be distributed in time, not piled up, and watered regularly to ensure the freshness of the mulberry leaves; the hot and spoiled mulberry leaves should be cleaned up in time and should not be raised in a haphazard manner.
(3) Feeding and management.
1. Do a good job of disinfection and disease prevention. Strictly carry out the dust removal and regular disinfection of silkworm houses.
2. Breeding of small silkworms. Wash the young silkworm leaves with 0.3% available chlorine bleaching water, drain and cut the leaves to feed the silkworms.
3. Breeding of large silkworms. Adjust the method of mulberry feeding, take measures such as increasing the frequency of mulberry feeding, feeding more mulberry when the temperature is low, feeding mulberry at night, increasing the distance between silkworm beds, etc., strengthen ventilation and moisture removal in silkworm sheds, and maintain a suitable temperature and humidity environment.
4. Cluster management. Clean the silkworm seat in time after putting the clusters on, so that the cluster room and environment are ventilated and dry to ensure thequality of the cocoons.
3. Take safety precautions
First, strengthen safety awareness, do a good job in safety precautions for silkworm houses and staff, equip fire-fighting facilities, and distribute heatstroke first-aid medicines. The second is to strengthen emergency response capabilities. In the event of fire or heatstroke, call the police immediately and handle the emergency.
