Xinjiang Jinghe: Cotton is growing well and a new cotton harvest is expected
On August 12, rainfall occurred in many places in northern Xinjiang, and the temperature dropped to about 27 degrees Celsius. The climate in southern Xinjiang was better, and the temperature overall remained at about 30 degrees.
A cotton farmer in Jinghe, Xinjiang said that the local cotton is currently growing well and the bolls have reached their peak. According to the current growth situation, it is expected that two more irrigations will be needed in the future. Currently, insect pests appear in some cotton fields, mostly bollworms and thrips. Cotton farmers need to carry out pesticide control according to the conditions of the cotton fields. At the same time, there has been a lot of rain recently, and cotton fields with large temperature differences between day and night are prone to red leaf disease. Cotton farmers should strengthen cotton field management in the future to ensure a good cotton yield.
