Recently, Professor Lu Cheng, the former chief scientist of the National Sericulture Industry System, and Associate Professor Chen Peng, secretary of the system office, met with researcher Li Yiping, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Hunan Sericulture Science Institute and core member of the Changsha Comprehensive Experiment Station, and Hunan Accompanied by Chairman Fan Maolin and General Manager Yuan Shengyi of Yashilin Cocoon Silk Biotechnology Co., Ltd., they investigated the sericulture industry in Hunan. Lu Cheng and his party first went to Yashilin Cocoon Silk Biotechnology Co., Ltd. located in Liuyang Economic Development Zone and visited the company’s intelligent injection molding factory, modern silkworm artificial feed production workshop, Automated sericulture factory and silkworm breeding center, and then went to the Provincial Sericulture Science Research Institute to inspect the Hunan Provincial Sericulture Technology and Culture Center, the Changsha Branch of the National Silkworm Improvement Center and the Changsha Comprehensive Experiment Station.

After the on-site inspection, Lu Cheng presided over a symposium. Comrade Li Yiping discussed the development status, overall layout and production model of traditional sericulture in Hunan, as well as the work carried out by the Hunan Sericulture Research Institute in the breeding of artificial feed silkworm varieties. In the report, Chairman Fan Maolin gave a detailed introduction to the “Yashilin Changsha (International) SericultureSilkIntelligent Manufacturing Industry Project”. Lu Cheng made a concluding speech. He said that Hunan’s traditional sericulture industry accounts for a small proportion in the country and ranks low. However, after witnessing and listening to the introduction of Yashilin’s factory-based artificial feed sericulture project today, he believes that Hunan’s sericulture industry will be certain in the near future. After the meeting, he tried to catch up and achieve the national team in terms of variety selection and total production volume; finally, he proposed that the national sericulture industry system, Hunan Provincial Institute of Sericulture Science and Yashilin Cocoon Industry Company should start from the artificial feed sericulture project. Strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the selection and breeding of artificial feed silkworm varieties, optimization of mulberry feed classification, and construction of a comprehensive silkworm disease prevention and control system. Negotiate and sign a strategic cooperation agreement between industry, academia, and research institutes as soon as possible to promote the rapid and high-quality development of Yashilin artificial feed sericulture and Hunan’s sericulture industry.
