The entire process is mechanized to allow easy cotton cultivation
“I purchased tractors with 1,404 horsepower and 2,404 horsepower respectively in 2011 and 2017. In addition to using them to cultivate my family’s 100 acres of cotton land, I can also provide agricultural machinery services to other employees of the company. They can plow 100 acres in a year. With 3,000-4,000 acres of land, the income can be more than 200,000 yuan just by relying on agricultural machinery,” said Yang Laixi, an employee of the second company of Fangcao Lake Farm. Last year, he earned more than 600,000 yuan from growing cotton and farming machinery.
Mechanization is an important symbol of modern agriculture. In order to improve the mechanization rate of cotton production, Fangcao Lake Farm issued the “Implementation Plan for the Establishment of the Sixth Division Fangcao Lake Farm Full-process Mechanization of Cotton Production Demonstration Team” in 2018 to standardize and guide the full-process mechanization of cotton, and achieved remarkable results.
In 2020, the entire cotton process of this farm has been mechanized from plowing, sowing, field management, picking, cotton stalk return to the field, and recycling of residual film, and the comprehensive mechanization rate has reached 100%.
Data shows that in 2021, the total power of farm agricultural machinery will reach 155,700 kilowatts, with more than 2,000 agricultural machinery employees, more than 3,500 tractors of various types, 360 wide film seeders (340 of which are equipped with Beidou navigation), and residual film There are 326 recycling machines (racks). In December of that year, Fangcao Lake Farm was selected into the sixth batch of demonstration counties (cities, districts) in the country that were the first to basically realize the full mechanization of major crop production.
This year, the farm has planted more than 500,000 acres of cotton. Various agricultural machinery such as plows, seeders, and cotton pickers are taking turns to help grow cotton easily, which has been widely recognized by cotton farmers.

Benefiting from this, the farm’s cotton industry has accelerated its development, improving the quality and efficiency of economic production while ensuring high cotton yields and increased income.
To improve cotton quality, it is necessary to select relatively uniform varieties and continuously cultivate high-quality varieties. “Currently, the whole farm implements the ‘one main and two auxiliary’ planting model, and the quality of cotton has been greatly improved. Erlian mainly grows ‘Huiyuan 720’, which has stress resistance, drought tolerance and strong yield stability. It has unique characteristics and can adapt to the climate environment of Fangcao Lake.” said Yang Long, the second company commander of Fangcao Lake Farm.
At the same time, Fangcao Lake Farm also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shihezi University and the Academy of Agricultural Reclamation Sciences of the Corps to jointly cultivate improved seeds in the experimental field model. The farm will provide the cultivated seeds for free to employees for sowing and management. After the pilot is successful, the improved seeds will be promoted throughout the farm to improve cotton quality from the source and benefit every link in the entire industrial chain.
Good management of land resources is the basic work for producing high-quality cotton. Fangcao Lake Farm continues to improve agricultural infrastructure conditions by continuously promoting the construction of high-standard farmland and implementing the good land strategy. “The construction of high-standard farmland in our farm has been promoted through the whole company. Now it has completed more than 200,000 acres. In addition, Fangcao Lake Farm also attaches great importance to field management and plant protection work. Develop greening and protect the cotton growing environment
Fangcao Lake Farm always adheres to green and sustainable development during the cotton planting process. In order to explore and implement mechanized technology for recycling farmland film residues, reduce farmland pollution, protect the cotton growing environment, and comprehensively promote the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, the farm introduced Xinjiang Xinrunfeng Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. through investment promotion.The company settled in to recycle residual agricultural mulch films and drip irrigation tapes.
In order to reduce the pollution of residual film, the Fangcao Lake Farm Company requires farmers to take out the residual film from the field and place it at designated storage points after picking up cotton. The film is pulled back to the factory for processing. It mainly uses waste agricultural mulch film on the surface of farmland and residual agricultural mulch film 30 cm below the surface of farmland as raw materials. It is processed by a pure physical regeneration waste film production line to generate polyethylene raw material particles, and then put into the market to realize the recycling and utilization of waste film. Resources turn waste into treasure.
“We started production in September last year, with a designed annual processing capacity of 4,000 tons of pellets. From the establishment of the factory to the present, we have recycled about 400 tons of residual film, and more than 100 tons have been processed. The final pellets are sold per ton. It’s 5,000 yuan.” Liu Baili, the person in charge of Xinjiang Xinrunfeng Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. introduced.
It is understood that Fangcao Lake Farm started using thickened film in 2012 and has started recycling the remaining film. At that time, farmers could only use a rake or directly remove the membrane with their hands. The cleaned membrane would be mixed with the soil, weeds, and cotton stalks in the field. After these impurities were removed, the content of the residual membrane was only 10%-20%. . After using the all-in-one machine for recycling residual film and cotton stalks purchased by Xinrunfeng Plastic Industry Co., Ltd., it can not only effectively improve the cleanliness of the residual film, but also increase the amount of recycling. Currently, the total recycling amount of cotton fields in the entire Fangcao Lake Farm It has reached about 3,000 tons.
Through continuous recycling, the amount of residual film per acre of Fangcao Lake Farm has dropped from about 20 kilograms to less than 5 kilograms now. After this work has been carried out year after year, the residual film in the land will continue to decrease, which makes the cotton industry of Fangcao Lake Farm take a big step towards green development.
