134,000 acres of cotton in Keping County, Xinjiang has entered the flowering and boll stage, and cotton farmers are expecting a bumper harvest

At present, cotton in various townships (towns) in Keping County, Xinjiang has officially entered the flowering and boll stage. In order to strengthen field management, do a good job in preventing and controlling diseases and pests, and ensure a bumper cotton harvest, technical personnel from the county Agricultural Technology Extension Center went deep into the whole country. On July 18, in the cotton field of Kumuluke Village (Village 3), Achale Town, Keping County, technicians from the County Agricultural Technology Extension Center were analyzing the cotton situation with the villagers. Technicians explained the essentials of cotton pest and disease prevention to cotton farmers, and everyone discussed in depth how to manage cotton and other related issues. Litip Rekepu, a farmer in Kumuluke Village (Village 3), said: “I planted 30 acres of cotton this year, and the cotton is growing very well. Currently, field management work such as topping and spraying pesticides is being carried out in the cotton fields. The party and government’s strong support for the cotton industry has enhanced our confidence and determination to develop the cotton industry. Under the guidance of agricultural technicians, my family’s cotton field management has been very good this year, which provides a solid guarantee for an increase in cotton production and a bumper harvest in autumn. Chen Jiawen, director of the Agricultural Office of Aqiale Town, Keping County, said: “Currently cotton has entered the key node of flowering and boll stage. It is understood that so far this year, 134,000 acres of cotton have been sown in the county, an increase of 18,000 acres over last year. Keping County has steadily increased its cotton yield rate by implementing technologies such as improved seed selection, satellite navigation sowing, precise on-demand sowing, machine-picked wide-film cotton planting, water-saving drip irrigation, and comprehensive pest and disease control.
