In view of the recent continuous high temperature weather in Shiquan County and the lack of effective rainfall for a long time, the mulberry trees are already at their physiological limits, and the drought has caused serious damage to microscopic insects such as mulberry thrips and red spider mites. After a comprehensive inspection of the growth status of the mulberry trees and the soil conditions After considering factors, Su Chao gave a “prescription” to effectively reduce losses: first, use mulberry gardens with few leaves in the early stage to remove the old yellow leaves in the middle and lower parts as soon as possible to prevent more water loss; second, pay close attention to irrigation conditions Fertilize and water; thirdly, immediately after the end of this batch of silkworms, spray pesticides to control pests such as mulberry thrips and red spider mites, laying the foundation for autumn silkworms to eat. The county sericulture development service center immediately sent the “prescription” to the hands of the majority of sericulture farmers in the county through the county’s sericulture technology information service SMS platform.
Since Shiquan County and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University signed a “joint construction of sericulture base” in December 2006, the school has selected a number of experts to work on-site and carried out a series of experimental research and demonstrations on problems existing in the development of Shiquan’s sericulture industry. The promotion has achieved remarkable results in the structural adjustment of sericulture varieties, co-breeding of small silkworms, labor-saving and cost-saving sericulture technology and comprehensive utilization of mulberry orchards. The scientific and technological demonstration has effectively doubled the benefits of Shiquan’s sericulture industry.
